I understand why people would love to come to our country. We are the land of opportunity. Unfortunately, opportunity is hard to come by south of our border. I don't understand, however, how folks who have come into our country illegally can be provided with the legal right to drive. I thought Spitzer was a law and order kind of guy.

I thought George W. Bush was a law and order kind of guy, too, but he's the one that wants to allow illegals to stay and refuses to deport them. If Bush isn't going to bother to enforce the law, what kind of example does that set? What are states to do with all these illegal immigrants?

Where exactly WAS she a resident, then?

I just don't understand this.....if you are here illegaly, how can you do anything legally......?

The White House.......I don't know and didn't say I did. I don't remember from that time frame, it just struck me that she could decide to run representing a state she didn't live in (presumably Arkansas would have been their residency since he was governor there prior to the White House bid). At the time, I understood you could run to represent any state, that residency wasn't a requirement.

If you are having construction done in your home, or landscaping or anything, you should ask the contractor or company if they hire "ILLEGAL" Mexicans. If the answer is YES, then you should hang up and go with a company that does not hire them. Americans need the work and deserve the work. We are the ones who pay taxes.

Giving these illegals licenses just proves that the people running things don't care about the working American..... Don't you need a "Real" social security number to get a license?

So if a company hires Mexicans, you should not do business with them?

The governor called it a “common sense change” that will improve traffic safety and lower insurance costs for all New Yorkers by ensuring that more immigrants have valid licenses and auto insurance. Giving more immigrants verifiable identification will also enhance law enforcement by bringing people out of the shadows.

This is a lesson completely lost. The 9/11 terrorists worked the system to get Virginia drivers licenses. With that, they were able to get around the country and board the planes on the day of the attack. These documents are a free pass to roam around the country, Dont ya think ?

One issue not really addressed it the quality of the documents presented to DMV for issuance of a drivers license. In some cases you have fraudulent documents used to obtain a valid license. there is no longer a need to pull out the fake documents. If they get caught for anything.

Maryland already does this and the illegals in the area know that Maryland is the place to live or at least get your drivers license. There is no fear of being caught by immigration authorities .

To me, it's businesses that have ILLEGAL's working for them (mexican or not) that I don't like to do business with. A lot of the businesses you listed wouldn't have illegal mexican's working for them, they would be legal. I am hoping that is what the other poster meant...illegal mexican's...not mexican's in general

We just had two of our high school girls killed in a car accident-they were hit by an illegal immigrant, driving drunk. It hit national news--one girl went to my son's high school. She and her best friend were in the car at the time. The ironic thing, is that as best friends, one girl's mom was dating the other girl's dad. This guy had been arrested 3X for drunken driving...It just makes me sick--here is the story....

NY WAS their residence when she ran. They purchased a home there in September, 1999, over a year before the Senate election. IIRC, they never even owned a home in Arkansas.
