Talking Do YOU want to lose weight????

I thought it would be nice if once a week we would have a weigh-in for people who are wanting/trying to weight. You wouldn't have to give your actually numbers, it can just be the progress you have made, like losing 2 lbs or exercising everyday in a week.

Thought it would be fun if we also set some mini goals.....see if we have enough people to maybe lose 400 pounds by New Years Eve. Just state how much you are willing to try to lose by the end of the year. every week post your progress and I'll tally up everyone success!!!! There will be a new weigh in thread every Monday...were we can chart our progress and give encouragement. Please only join if you can be supportive, I want only a positive thread!!!!

So here it goes.....My goal is 15 pounds by Jan 31st!!!

Come on I know WE can do this together......New Slimmer you in 2008!!

I am definately in! I want to lose 15# by Jan. 1st. Two weeks ago I traded in my Coke for Water! I haven't lost a pound from it yet, but that is ok. Now I need to focus on my eating habits and start exercising.

I love your idea about a weekly weighing in thread!!! Thanks!!

Polve I think this is a GREAT idea.

I've been WANTING to get back on the treadmill, but quite honestly I am NOT motivated at all. It's also a little harder w/#3 who's 15 months and in to everything. I'm HOPING that I can participate and stick to my goal (and then some!). I have an appt w/my dr on Thursday and I'm sure I'll be getting antidepressants to kind of help get me out of this funk I've been in since summer. I'm hoping THAT will give me the kick I need and I'll have the energy and motivation to hop back on the treadmill.

I have a small goal of 5 pounds for now. I'm still down 31 pounds from when I first started my "life style change" almost 2 1/2 years ago. Five pounds will get me just below my pre-pregnancy weight.

Ok. I'm gonna FORCE myself to get on that treadmill. Maybe not everyday like I used to, but I'm gonna try. I need/want to lose more than 5, but 5 seems more attainable than say, 50! LOL

Wish me luck!

I'm in...

My goal is 5 pounds by January 1. I'm putting that... although I do want to lose more (and help you reach the group goal of 400 pounds!), I prefer a small goal and any goal is better than no goal!

A small goal works better for me.

Thank you for doing this!!!

I am starting my diet today. I am starting low with 5 lbs by Jan 1. I am hoping for more but thats the minimum. I did it once before I went from 215 to 160 and well things happended and the numbers are getting higher. I keep saying if I did it once, I can do it again. The last time I gave up all fried and fast foods and coke. I want to see if I have the will power to do it again

Do I WANT to lose weight......NO NO NO!

But I NEED to lose some weight...... I have actually been doing pretty good over the last couple months and taken off 15 lbs or so.......but my goal from now till after the holidays is only 5lbs. It's hard to lose weight over the holidays especially with all the baking we do.....gotta sample everything

I think this is a great idea.......hopefully once DH leaves I'll actually start exercising.....I keep putting that off.....

We are almost half way there...so far we have 195 pledged. Even if you just want to take off 5lb until after the holidays, join...it will keep you motivate not to gain during the holidays.

Last time (before the baby) I lost 44 pounds. I cut out ALL the stuff I like (donuts, cookies, candy, chips, you know all the stuff you're not supposed to eat, stuff I crave, especially this week ) and Mt. Dew. I drank water with everything.

I still drink water mainly but am having a hard time giving up the junk food. I'm actually surprised that I'm only 5 pounds over my pre pregnancy weight.

So, this will be a challenge for me. I wonder if everyone here at home will be able to stand me if I give up all that junk food? Last time I was pretty grumpy for the 1st week.

Are we going to pick a set day of the week for weigh ins, or just be spontanteous?

Count me in for 20lbs by Jan 1st, I was getting ready to jump back on the diet bandwagon again. I hope I stick to it. I need to start putting my excercise bike to good use too.

Ok guys don't mean to mess up the count here but I just realized it is probably pretty dumb of me to shoot for 30lbs by Jan 1st so I deducted 10lbs so that my goal will be now 20lbs. I forgot about Thanksgiving and Christmas. I am just trying to be realistic for myself. I would probably make myself a nervous wreck and feel like I failed if I didn't reach that goal so I am NOT going to do that to myself!

I'd love to be able to double my target of 5lbs, but I know myself better, with the holidays I'm thinking of Pumpkin Rolls, Chocolate Cream Pies and moms mashed potatoes made with heavy whipping cream.....Yummy! I might be able to gain 10 lbs, but no way I lose it.......and if I miss a goal I set I'm they type of person that ends ups giving up........

You can put me down for 10 pounds by Jan. 1st. Though, I will probably need to lose 15 to make up for the five that I will gain over the Christmas holidays.

Ten for me, please! Thanks for getting this going!

Gonna go have my last too-late-to-be-eating snack tonight.

I always do better when I stop eating earlier in the evening, so I'll indulge again just this last time...

Been doing WW for about 3 months on my own. I'm down 17.5 lbs so far. I will set a goal of 10 lbs by Jan 1st. I really need to start getting back on track with my points. When I was walking a lot, I did fine. Now that I've slacked on the walking, I've lost some motivation. This is just what I need

Diet Dr. Pepper is really good! Although I've read that diet sodas consumption has been linked to weight gain, not weight loss...jeesh, how unfair is that!

Diet Coke is a Joke

Countless numbers of dieters consume Diet Coke thinking that it is inert to their diet efforts. After all, it's called Diet Coke, right? Wrong.

Diet Coke, regardless of how many calories it has, wreaks havoc on your fat loss efforts and will ultimately cause you to gain weight. There are two main reasons for the Diet Coke fallacy. First, the sweet taste from Diet Coke elicits an insulin spike, which blocks your ability to burn fat. Second, artificial sweeteners found in Diet Coke disrupt satiety, the feeling of being full. Combined, the actions of Diet Coke go against a healthy lifestyle. Understanding why ensures that we think twice before consuming it.

So how will this go?

Do we simply post our beginning weight (this week's), and then post next Monday morning's weight along side of it, and then our goal weight? For example: Devinmom: 143.5/142.5/133 (So the weight in the middle is the actual weight of that Monday)

Will that thread be only weight charts? Just wondering - I need to envision this, so I can get myself motivated for the actual weekly reveal. I'm excited about this, however it goes!

Not too keen on post actual weight...I have a lot of muscle mass... yeah, that it.

If it wouldn't pollute the board too much, it might be nice to have some kind of daily check-in in terms of diet and exercse log....add that extra measure of accountability.

What are your thoughts and ideas, Polve??

I was thinking we would post something like..........20/1.5/18.5....the amount you want to lose how much you have lost and the amount left to lose. I'm 6' ft tall my dream weight is probably higher then what you all weigh now ....so I am all for being discreet.

BTW we are now at 310, hopeful some more people will join today to put us over the 400 lb goal. If not we will start another one right after New Years, which I am sure we will get 1000lb pledge

If you want to do a thread everyday, I guess we could try if they say anything we could then just go to Mondays.....well I am off to walk my two miles.

Put me in for 20 by Dec 31st. I'm going on a cruise in March, and we're flying down to Fort Lauderdale.
I don't want to have to purchase 2 seats because I have "too much junk in my trunk".

Just a suggestion in regards to 'polluting' the boards with this... LOL Of course, this is only a suggestion.

Maybe have two threads going... a 'MC Weight Loss Group - Discussion' thread... and a 'MC Weight Loss Group - Weigh-In ' thread started fresh each Monday with the date???

They'd get locked at 50... and then new ones could get set up.

Ok, yesterday went well... I did have some emotional stuff happen which was hard but I know that I can do this. I kept on thinking about the fact that I had signed up for this and it kept me on the straight and narrow.

Now that I'm on *the spreadsheet*, there's no turning back... LOL!!! Thanks again for starting this Polve.

I like that suggestion.
And for the Weigh In threads have it set up similar to the Survivor thread: All participants' names listed in the original post and when we check in, Polve can update the list noting goal + amount lost.

OK, count me in too - I have to get motivated. I've been trying to lose for a long time and do good for about a week and then "forget" about it. Although I need to lose a lot more, put me down for 15. Then, I can join your January plan again and put down some more!!

Ok I am ready to start dieting now, I just tried the chili cheese nacho bellgrande from taco bell and I have to say I am glad I didn't like it, I didn't want to start the diet and wasn't really motivated to start tomorrow until I tried it, after eating that I wish to heavens I would have started dieting today. So if anyone out there needs dieting motivation go get your Chili Cheese Nacho Bellgrande today.

I could seriously give up beef after that. Blah

I have been looking at my belly for weeks wondering what I was going to do. I am in for 5lbs but am hoping for around 8 or 10. This is great, if I have it written down then I cannot falter (well that's the idea)

Thanks!!!!

Count me in....I have actually been trying to diet for the past two weeks (with one weekend day off). When I weighed myself last Friday....I was down about three pounds. I still want to lose at least 10 more, so count me in for 10!!!!

I'm aiming for 10 lbs by january 31st.. I don't get a scale until the 1st of the month though so I can't get an accurage starting weight.

I've lost 19lbs so far this year, but my goal weight is still approx. 10more pounds away. So, on that note - put me down for 10lbs. :O)
