Question Who "wears the pants" in your family?

There are so many different family arrangements and roles here, that I'm curious - who wears the pants in your family?

We share the pants around here.......... BUT......... I tend to let him think he does..... just so he can tell his friends(joking) ........ see they are all divorced and we have only been married for 1 year and 1 week.........lol We laugh about it all the time.

it's a partnership here... we never make any major decision without 2 things... 1 discussing it and 2 sleeping over night on it...

We both do. We discuss everything.

I heard a saying once that "A man is the head of the family, but the woman is the neck!" meaning the neck controls the head...

Do you have pictures you want to share??? LOL

Both DH and I share the discussion making. But he does tend to always want me to be happy, so his vote is normally whatever would make me the happiest.

DH wears the pants, but he gets advise from me and allows me to share in the decision making. Of course, we tease that I allow him to be the boss.

Hubby wears the pants... but since I do the laundry in this household, I am the only one who knows where the pants are at any given time. j/k

We are def. an equal relationship type of marriage. We dont have separate checking accounts or make money decisions over $50- $100 without talking with each other. It has worked for 17 years so we arent bound to change anything anytime soon.

Brownie seems to wear the "fur" in our family because she doesn't like to wear clothes, she prefers real animal fur and she doesn't care what Peta thinks about it either.

I think the pants shift back and forth in this house. DH asked the kids one day who they thought was the boss of the house and they both said MOM!! He looked a little surprised.

That is a very interesting perspective- asking the kids. I will ask mine when they get home from CCD. I have always in the past tried to be the pleaser in the past- letting others ( DH and kids ) have their way alot of the time. Suddenly I found myself feeling kind of bitter about it. I announced that what I want is important too. It seems I am making up for lost time with alot of decisions going my way lately. But of course I still care alot about DH's opinion. I am no longer hesitant to hold my ground.

Here is a great response I heard one time to this very question...

"My husband wears the pants, but I pick them out!"

I guess I really wear the pants in our family, but I always discuss anything major with Dh.......with all the tours overseas, deployments and schools that Dh does we decided it was better this way. And it doesn't lead to confusion on anyones part......

My husband wears the pants. He's the man of our house. But as far as decisions, it's always been the two of us making them. There's nothing that he would make a decision on without my agreement to it and the same with me. I wouldn't think of making a decision without his agreement. As far as keeping up with the bills, etc., I do that. As far as his stock, retirement, etc., he takes care of that. We both have our expertise in things and some things he knows more about and some things I know more about.

Hubby "wears the pants" here. He's the head of our household. That being said, I handle the money and pay the bills. Neither one of us makes major decisions or plans w/o talking w/the other one first. I'm better with finances than him that's why I do the bills. I'd like for him to take over so I don't have to deal with them, but he's not really thrilled about doing them.

That'd be me...and the whole family knows it! I control all finances and all decisions of the house. When I ask DH for input, he always just leaves it to me. I think he likes not having to worry about all the things I take care of. I'm also a control freak, so I need to know what's going on with everything.

My hubby wears the pants. I am the belt that holds his pants up. Without me they would be around his ankles.

Recently SO has gone on disablility so our rolls have slightly changed he is the house person and I am the working person. But we really try to share the "pants" duty. BTW my son (mine not his) knows I am the queen and I will be obeyed (even at 21).

My 2 boys say it's mom. I usually make the decision about the house, kids, etc. but any major decisions I always ask hubby for his input. He works a strange schedule so it makes it hard for him to be in charge or always know what is going on. I think he's happy with it this way. He grew up not having to make any decisions (do as I say type childhood).

He wears the pants, but I wear the stockings and high heels. You can guess who has the power in my house....

I voted both of us but it really is me. I make almost all the decisions he does the punishments when he is home.
