Do you hang on to clothes that don't fit you -- too big, too small?

I have drawers and hangers full of clothes that are too big or too small... I have a lot of money invested in these clothes and a lot of them were favorites at one time or another.

What do you do with clothes that don't fit you?

I keep two pairs of jeans that are one size too big for me. They are comfy on the days I am bloated from my period or feeling frumpy. I have about 10 pairs of pants from when I was a size smaller. I keep those...they don't take up too much room. I doubt I want to be a sized 6 again (too many eating restrictions to stay that way) but there are days they do fit. I don't have any shirts/dresses that are too big. When I lost weight and went from a 12 to a 6/8, I gave 99% of my clothes to my mom and cousin, especially my nice work suits. My size 12 was their goal weight. Otherwise, I give the extras to charity

I have held on to a few "favorites", but the clothes I had to buy after baby no. 6 are all most all gone......My feeling is if I keep the bigger clothes around I won't be so apt to stay on course, and more likely to lapse and put some weight back on....I budget our money very carefully, so the thought of having to buy any new clothes because I need bigger ones really works with me I did hold on to some of my big T-Shirts....I love oversized T-shirts......

I have held on to some of my "good" smaller clothes because my oldest DD is getting old enough to wear some of them (tops only)

Everything in my closet fits me EXCEPT 2 pairs of jeans 1 size bigger than what I am wearing and I am only keeping those because I am a Plus Tall size and jeans are just IMPOSSIBLE to find it seems in Plus Tall sizes. So 2 pairs of jeans are not taking up that much room in my walk in closet.

I'm like you. I keep everything. I have no idea why other than I'm just a pack rat. LOL I'll get fed up occasionally and get rid of loads of clothes.

Weird thing is I have no trouble getting rid of DH's or the boys clothes after they outgrow them. I just wanna keep my stuff.

I have a tote full of jeans that I just put into the closet. I went from an 16-18 to an 10-11. I gave away the 16-18s and kept the 12-14s that I had as I went along and had them in the closet, I am glad I did because I just had to pack up the 10-12s because someone ate too much junk food but hopefully now that I am back on my diet I can pull them out again. I am giving myself till Jan 1 to do it or they are gonna go.

Its funny that you ask this question now, because, I just spent part of the weekend reorganizing my closet. I now have a closet that is half clothes that fit and half that are too big. I was really getting tired of looking through my whole closet for clothes that fit. Now that I have the "big" clothes in one area I have to decide what to do with them. But, one step at a time.

I have also found that consignment stores are great ways to get rid of clothes you can't wear or are otherwise tired of. Ours will even "buy" your clothes outright - no need to wait for a consignment check!

Nope...I don't hold onto them. The vets usually have a pickup once a month and I give to them...or drop them in a bag in the clothes bin...Sometimes I'll even see my old clothes in the thrift store...if that isn't funny I don't know what is!...I'm now a size 12...Not long ago I used to be a size 8...I've gathered up all those jeans that don't fit and they are waiting to go to the clothes bin...I should really get to that tonight...There's no way anytime soon I'm getting back down to a size 8...Not with all the sweets I've been craving lately...I used to be able to eat anything I wanted to...Then I hit the big 4-0! I never even liked sweets very much...now I can't get enough cheesecake! ~Lisa

I will save a few favorites but for the most part, I take the nice things that will sell to a consignment shop and the balance to the Salvation Army. I shop a lot so am always happy to bring in something new to replace the old (except for the old favorites)
