does any one know a web sight for free where you can do a crimal back ground check of a sex offender for the 80s i herd after 10 years that it would not be in the sysetem but i belive if i did a back ground check it would be on there??? any one know i know i can pay for a back ground but when it comes to sex offenders it should be free

Do you know who and where this sex offender lives? If you have that information you can look it up on the National Sex Offender Registry.

Plus, it doesn't go off the system after any amount of years. They will always have to register as a sex offender.

Becky is correct, but if the crime occurred before mandatory registration for sex offenders was instituted then the person will probably not be registered.

I would suggest look on the web site for the state Dept of Corrections for where the crime occurred/where the person was convicted. It they are on probation or parole it will tell you.
Otherwise, your only other option is to run a criminal background check--which is generally through your state's Dept of Justice. Also, contact local law enforcement and speak to the sex crimes unit/officer. Explain to them the situation and what your concerns are. They may be able to assist you.
