Romney can't be an idiot but...

Romney Makes Obama-Osama Gaffe - The Caucus - Politics - New York Times Blog

Romney has had great business and political success, he can't be a dumb guy, but come on! How the heck can he screw up Obama and Osama? Sure there are only a couple of letters different in the name but geeesh.
“I think that is a position which is not consistent with the fact,” Mr. Romney said. “Actually, just look at what Osam — uh — Barack Obama, said just yesterday. Barack Obama calling on radicals, jihadists of all different types, to come together in Iraq. That is the battlefield. That is the central place, he said. Come join us under one banner.”

I think he's trying to get the more ignorant Americans to think there's some connection between the two. Romney's a snake in the grass. As a resident of Massachusetts, I'm familiar with his sleazy ways.

What makes you think he can't be an idiot? Either he's an idiot or he's just being a jerk. You pick.

I was talking to my husband about this, and I did the same thing. I was trying to say Obama and accidentally said Obama. So it could honestly be a slip of the tongue.
Also, jujubee2, what sleazy ways are you familiar with. I haven't heard anything that shows he's a sleazy guy, he seems to be pretty upstanding so far...

First he said Osmana, then he said Barack Obama. Twice. No way it was a slip of the tongue.

He said he completely believes in all the tenets of his religion. If you're thinking about supporting him, you might want to check out Morman, because there are still pretty wild and crazy ideas in there. I'm talking Scientology crazy.

What kind of wild and crazy things? You know, quite a few people in this country said the same thing when JFK was running. "They" didn't want a Catholic in the white house...

As I said, I highly recommend you read up on the beliefs of the religion. I wouldn't want to misrepresent anything. My husband has a Morman employee and I was stunned to hear some of the things he believes.

I wouldn't support Romney under any circumstances, so it doesn't matter to me what he believes. I was just very surprised to hear him embrace all aspects of this religion.

I am a mormon. I am a Christian. I am surprised to STILL hear people these days say they won't vote for someone just because they are a Mormon, Now I am wondering what could possibly be so bad that I believe that would make someone not want to vote someone in to office. So again, I would like to ask. What is it that he believes that makes you NOT want to vote for him?

Please don't put words in my mouth. I never said I wouldn't vote for him because he's a Mormon. that's the least of my problems with him. I don't refuse to support him because he's a MORMON -- I refuse to support him because he's a REPUBLICAN.

I understand that Mormons consider themselves Christian. The religion's idea of Christianity, however, is dramatically different from mine. For one thing, I don't think man can ever become a god himself or that his children will or should worship him as they worship God

Joseph Smith wrote:

"God himself was once as we are now, and is an exalted man, and sits enthroned in yonder heavens! . . . I am going to tell you how God came to be God. We have imagined and supposed that God was God from all eternity. I will refute that idea, and take away the veil, so that you may see. . . . He was once a man like us; yea that God himself, the Father dwelt on an earth, the same as Jesus Christ himself did. . ."

As I said, though, his Mormonism has nothing to do with why I won't support Romney.

You are right, you didn't say that him being a mormon would make you not want to vote for him. But to me, it sounded like you "implied" it. Or, you want others to take it into consideration before voting for him.

Let's just say I think they should be aware of who and what their candidate believes and decide for themselves if they're comfortable having someone with those personal beliefs running the country. I won't vote for him because he's pro-war, someone else might be uncomfortable voting for someone who believes that one day he'll be a god.
