Shoe on the Roof

Okay, Listen to this!

Kids are getting ready for school this morning. Youngest son says, Mama, what am I gonna do? My shoe is on the roof and I don't have a match to this one to wear to school. HUH??? This was the first I heard about it. I said, please explain. He said his brother through his school one of his shoes up on the roof yesterday. Well, this child grows like a weed, I think he is going through a growth spurt.....so anyway, he ONLY has ONE pair of school shoes. Well it's time for the school bus and of course I am not able to reach his shoe on the roof top! Anyway, I cleaned up his play shoes a bit and told him I would work on getting the other shoe down.

Well, I live in a single level home, so crawling out of the window to retrieve the shoe is not an option. I don't have a ladder. I thought about pulling my husbands big 4 wheel drive truck up and trying to reach, but I am almost certain that I will still be unable to reach it. Any suggestions?

I was mad at the kids while rushing around tryin not to miss the bus, BUT I swear, I can't help but sniggle to myself since they are gone. It's funny, but it's not funny. I guess I'll just chalk it up to a good memory. I mean what on earth possessed them to do this?

Anyway, Guess I needed a good sniggle! But, seriously, Any suggestions on how to retrieve this missing shoe, lol.

That is funny!!! Oh my... I think the funniest thing is that he waited to tell you as he was getting ready to go. Sounds familiar.

I'd probably be tempted to ask around the neighborhood if anyone has a ladder that you can borrow but don't climb the ladder unless someone else is home and holding the bottom of the ladder.

I would try to borrow a ladder from your neighbor, or pull the four wheel drive close to it and use a mop or broom handle to move it down. Let us know how it ends!

Oh my.......if you have any close neighbors I would see if maybe one of them has a ladder, if not I guess try the truck and a broom or mop like mentioned above.....

That is just too funny!

LOL, we had a cute little red mary jane shoe on our roof for like a month before we finally got motivated to get it down, Glad to see I'm not the only one and I agree with the advice from the above posters. Or if you have a telescoping duster or paint thing, those might work!

Years ago my nephew was here visiting my mother in law. He was a really cute, really busy little guy. He threw his Dad's car keys on the house. One of the neighbors was a professional housepainter, so there was a ladder close. Sometimes I don't know how that kid survived to adulthood LOL

Sorry, a little late on this....I see you got it down. I was going to suggest using the leaf rake.

Last summer my daughter and her friend were swinging in our back yard. For whatever reason, the neighbor girl decided to kick her crocs off while swinging and one landed on our covered deck - probably 15 feet high. DH had to go up into our bedroom open the window, remove the screen and send daughter out to retrieve the shoe. I just wonder what these little minds are thinking sometimes!

When I first read this yesterday, I giggled for hours. Had to come back today for more smiles. Kids, gotta love 'em.
