Red face Quick, help - hippie costume???!

Ugh, DS (12) decided he would like a HIPPIE COSTUME this year for Halloween! Now where to find this, what to buy? I wish I could improvise something at home (less $$).

Any ideas? Background info - I am NOT crafty or creative!

Thanks for any suggestions!!!

I would go to the craft store and look thru the pattern books. Try Walgreens, too, they have costumes.....

My sons gonna b a hippie this year. Were bought him a afro wig. Tie Dye shirt, brown paper bag made into a vest w/ fringe. Dollar store round glasses & I found a big silver peace necklace to wear. He's got peach signs drawn all over his jeans. & just brown work boots. Maybe a peace sign on his face

My thrift store had lots of tie dye shirts, if you have some nearby, I would check those out.

headband

guys wore rolled/folded bandana headbands with hair parted in the middle , long and greasy. A roach clip might get him in trouble but that was part of the dress. round yellow glasses. flag patches on jeans. embroidered flowers on jeans....ahh the good old days.

My 8 yr old DD is going as a Hippie this year. I got a costume at Kmart last year for 90% off. It's really cute too. She's gonna wear a wig also. I got that for 90% off also. Wasn't even 3.00 for the whole thing.

Do you want me to go through my closet?

You can make a tie dyed shirt very quickly. Get a white t-shirt, fabric dyed and rubber bands. Tie up the shirt with the rubber bands. Dip the shirt in one dye ( or two or three). Let it dry.

For a quick dye...use Koolaid Kool Aid Tie Dye

Shirt, jeans, sandals, bandana on head over long wig...he should be good to go.

Kmart had 40% off costumes, might be off the wigs too!
