How often do you brush your teeth?

Just asking........

Last night when we couldn't get back home for a while I found myself wishing I had a toothbrush, after that experience I plan on buying a pack of cheap toothbrushes and a tube of toothpast to keep in my car....I HAVE to brush my teeth as soon as I get up, I hate the feeling on my mouth in the morning....YUCK! Then I brush my teeth again, after I have taken the kids to school and have had my morning coffee.....coffee breath isn't the greatest! LOL! Then I brush my teeth again before I pick the kids up from school, then after dinner and before bed......I have to use Listerine or the Crest ProHealth mouthwash everytime I brush too, or I don't feel done.......I also brush my teeth before I leave the house for anything........

Honestly? I brush in the mornings...every morning. I brush at night (before bed) about 3 times a week. I have a bad gag reflex when I brush my teeth so it's not an easy process to do. I just acquired this in the last year I used to brush more but this gagging makes it harder.

I gag too - it irritates DH, but I can't help it...getting those back molars clean really gag me.

I brush twice a day - every morning 1st thing when I get up and use Listerine and then again last thing every night and floss.

Those of you who gag when you brush, talk to your doctor about acid reflux.

DH used to be the worst at gagging when he'd brush his teeth. I mentioned it to my doctor and he said people with acid reflux are like that sometime.

DH started taking prilosec (he was having issues, anyway) and the gagging has stopped. Who'd a thunk it?

I have asked my doctor and there is nothing wrong that he sees. I don't want to take a drug to stop it...try to be as drug free as I can unless it's life dependent. He thought it might be the flavor of the toothpaste so I tried cinnamon and mint...no difference. What's funny is that teeth brushing is the only time I have the gagging

I use to brush my teeth after every meal but since switching to Colgate Total I feel protected and will let it slide to once a day. I haven't had any problems at all since switching to Colgate Total.I've also haven't had to pay for it in 10 years with all the deals, lol.

Arrow Gagging

I too had the worst gag known to human . However, one time at the dentist, he couldn't get a procedure done for my gagging and he asked if I was up to a little trial. `He had read in a documenary for dentists that a patient with chronic gag could take salt tablets to deminish the gag. So, he quit the procedure had me return. He had purchased some salt tabs and had me place a couple in my mouth just moments before the procedure...VIOLA! No heaving (sp?) or gagging.

The theory behind the salt tabs is that the salt dries up the saliva and you're not able to gag. I have since used them at home to aid in brushing my teeth.

Salt tabs can be purchased at CVS. Works pretty well. So for those of you with the gag reflex, give it a whirl, can't hurt to try.

I brush 3 - 4 times a day. If I'm working an 8 hour shift, I brush at my lunch time. I have a toothbrush and paste at work. I can smell the breath of the people who don't brush, or who smoke. Yuk!! There is one person I wish I could tell. I've joked with her but she didn't get the hint.

I have found that if I brush too soon after eating, I have a tendancy to gag. Also, if I lean too far forward as I brush my teeth, I have a tendancy to gag. I do better if I stand straight up and just lean to rinse as I am done.

I brush my teeth probably twice a day sometimes more, depends on what I have eaten, but two is the norm. However, if you asked how many times I floss it would be a different story. I floss basically 5 to 7 times a day......I floss in the morning and evening when I brush my teeth. But I also floss every time I eat anything. including a quick snack.
