I live in a very small town where everyone knows everyone. Being election year the mayor came by and handed out free tickets to a fundraiser tonight. They are have a Beatles Tribute Band playing with casino night style tables. What the heck do you wear to one of these things???? Dont want to wear jeans and be underdressed... Never been to a fund raiser for a mayor before...

Do you have a 'little black dress"? Everyone should have one for these type of occasions. If you don't, then I would wear something like black slacks and a dressy top. I definitely wouldn't wear blue jeans unless they're dark and you can dress it up with a dressy top and heels and some flashy jewelry (big earrings), etc.

I agree that a nice dress would work. I don't "do" dresses so I have a pair of dark blue velvetish slacks that wear with high heel boots and a nice top. I also have dress black pants too. I wouldn't go "glam" but I would dress up more than jeans
