Now I know why I had a raincheck :(

I had a raincheck from my local grocery. Went back twice, both times, still out of the item. Coupons in the machine nearby made the item free, so it was really a great deal. Today somehow I lucked out in seeing the item back in stock.

The cashier remarked how a woman had cleaned out the coupon machine, it had been refilled, and the woman cleaned out the machine again filling FIVE buggies with this item ! When the manager told her she was getting too much and leaving none for other customers, she got mad at him.

Now I know why I had a raincheck. And yet I wonder why people have to be such hogs?

Good Lord,...what was the item she got five buggys full of??

However if I can find a item free, which is very very rare here...I do get a lot..though my coupons are usually bought on ebay...and here is why:
Some for me, some for my frend and her family she is in nursing school money is tight, she does the same for me, some for T who is in workmans comp because of the accident we were in,...her money is tight tight and I feel bad because she was with me, even if it was not my fault...and some for the autism school because they get by on little funds...
But I have always left at least 7 or more of a item, unless that is all that was left for me to find.

People empty the coupon machines, what they don't use, they sell on Ebay.

I agree, it's frustrating.

I don't use a lot of coupons.....but it does drive me crazy when I see the coupons offered for free at the grocery stores for sale on ebay or other sites.....I think with those take what you'll use, and leave the rest for other shoppers....

As frustrating as it was to have someone empty the machine, if they store didn't post a limit, I don't see how they could request that buy no more of that item......Most stores around here have limit signs posted so all customers get a fair shot at the deals...

This happened to me too, a couple months ago. One of the local stores here had the OM Deli Creations for 3/$5 and there were $1 off coupons there in front of the product. Every time I went in to get some, they were all gone. The last day of the sale, I got a rain check. The girl at C/S writing my rain check told me a woman had just come thru with 24 of them, and her Grandmother had the same. So, between the 2 of them, they had 48. Wiped out the stock. I told her "I'm all for getting a deal, but, I'm not going to be greedy about it. Not to mention, this is a perishable item."

What makes me mad is when there is a stated limit (Walgreens coupons for example) and people grossly go over the limit. Some people just don't care, tho, and that is on them.

JEEZ now I know why I don't coupon. How can people be so greedy as to clean out the machine and the supply on the shelves. I don't know why there is no limit on this stuff.

OMG!!! Maybe their septic will get clogged???? That's just ridiculous.

Now, while I can understand "if" there were no limit stated, but don't stores have the right to limit customers anyway??? I would have been a bit upset with the manager if I had seen that, and wanted some, and the manager did NOTHING. But, you know, when I see someone like this, I just think to myself....well, if that's the kind of name you want to make for yourself.......and, I used to work retail, and believe me, they peg you pretty fast. And, yes, they do take notice when you enter the store.

There have been plenty of fights on MC about this topic though most of them were years ago. Got pretty ugly. That was when I learned which posters were selfish pigs and which ones were down to earth normal.

There are those here who feel entitled and first come, first serve too bad so sad. They see nothing wrong with greedily grabbing everything for themselves and justify it by saying if they didn't take it, someone else will. I have no problem with people taking things for personal use (wine tags, coupons, sale items) but when they take it to sell on ebay or at flea markets or whatever money making scheme they are involved in this week, that's when it irks me. It's greed and most definitely as with all things, what goes around, comes around. IMO it is scummy behavior. Isn't gluttony a sin (for those of you who are religious)?

I was wondering what it could've been!! That is TOO funny! I stock up too, but that is going too far! It would've been funny for the cashier if she was stocking up on something else too...like Fiber One or Metamucil (sp?).

she wouldn't have been able to do that here. All our stores have a limit on coupon use: 4 like tems. So, she could have only purchased 4 pkgs of toilet paper and used 4 coupons per transaction. They will not let you ring stuff up 10 different times so you can use all of your coupons if there is anybody else in line. In fact, I have never let me do it period (and I was only trying to use 6 coupons to get rice free).

Well I guess you never know...not knowing her $ flow, it might have been the way to go if it was free..my MIL had a very very low income even with senior houseing...I can not count the times over the years the ONLY thing in her bathroom was Hardees napkins to use as toliet paper because her meds were so high it was a no choice situation...Single moms raising kids with little or no help and make 15 dollars more a month then allowed for help..
I always think before I call someone a *pig* unless I am privvy to their living situations I can not judge...Kinda like telling welfare moms to help themselves or something to do better then finding out that the *piggy* was the same and blasting them for trying to save your tax dollar...
Dunno..tuff situation there...unless you know you can not judge...like the woman and her Grandmother...who knows, it may all have been going to a woman shelter, meals on wheels..if so these people show us how to get the most bang for short or non existent funds to help their programs...
Like my 30 bags of chex mix...20 went to the Autsim school for snacks for this year...couple of months ago, the 5 off 5 Kraft items gave them a box of free jello and puddings for the snacks..they run on a very very low budget, don't qualify for the kids to get reduced lunches and everyone has to pack...some of those kids come from familys that times are tuff...I have seen the lunches..snacks on hand make a huge difference every day...
But I digress..

Well, if it is something like toilet paper food stamps will not buy it.. I can certainly understand why someone would buy them out. Years ago when DH got laid off and went back to college..if something was free I would get all I could. (That was at a time when we could not afford telephone service, no internet).

Even now with things alot better I would be the crazy woman buying 5 buggies of toilet paper. With 9 people living in the house you go thur it fast.

I do try to leave some on the shelf ..I do not clean it out. Before Krogers closed here we would ask the manager to order us a case or 2 of something on sale. And then use a raincheck with coupons.

There may be others in the same situation who need the items too but if one person takes everything then others in need are SOL. So while we are to feel for the person in dire financial straights that make them act this way and take everything, leaving nothing for no one else, the person taking obviously could care less about others who may also be in the same situation.

IMO there is no excuse for boorish behavior though there will always be people who will bend over backwards to make excuses for them.

I understand not having the money, and TP not expiring, but thats just rude. 5 carts. Rude. Maybe buy/get 2 or 3 packs.I think its sad the way some people just take without any concern for others. If you really need/want the TP that badly you should go everyday and get a few, not take all the store has at one time (I bet she also went to other stores to clear them out too).

LOL..and I would have been the second crazy lady behind you..<and you know I have been >
That is the way it is here also..you know how many I have around here too..5 of us, at least 2 girls here too every day, or was until T was in the accident...I buy toliet paper like I am buying it for a hotel...but Forrestlayne and me both hit the same stores, and S who works here with our coupons and all 3 of us leave some on the shelf...<unless there is only like 4 when we get there>
I went to Krogers last Wed. when I had to take Daniel to Boyds and saved 109.98 in coupons and the other discounts, course it was a lot of the free Purina One too..and YES I left a lot..even the chex..I moved serveral boxes down from the top of the ice cream freezer to replace what i bought... I go to Clifton at least 3 times a month to hit Krogers if I can..

I didn't say she was a pig, I said she was a hog. And I am not interested in trying to suppose her purpose. Even if, and that'sa big if, she was donating, that doesn't excuse the behaviour at all. I don't like the attitude that it's ok because someone is "donating". That doesn't make it ok, or the person would be buying things with money or giving their time, doing things with sacrifice, not because they can get something for free and thus make themselves a hero.

Maybe I will see if I can engage the same clerk in conversation later, but it's really a moot point now. As stated, I had already been there twice to find an emtpy shelf and she cleaned out the coupon machine per the checker. Seems I read somewhere there are over 500 coupons in 1, but who knows. I will still call her a hog.

to chaos - haha sol, haha sol, thanks for the laugh

I agree - even if it is being donated, I'm not comfortable with one person presuming to take a boatload of something and leaving the shelf empty, or taking every last one of the coupons on display in the store.

There have been times I've gone to get something in an advertisement, something I needed either for myself or for someone else, and got there and found the shelf empty not just one day, but the next day and the day after that.

I'd rather see someone purchase a reasonable number of the item and then give it away if they want... and then let the next customer also have the opportunity to experience the joy of giving it away. Yes, maybe her cousin needed the toilet paper, but my uncle may need it even worse... and yet because she presumed to take it all, there was none left for me to get to give to my uncle.

I say let someone else get to play hero, too.

I feel a little differently if it's not an advertised special and you just happen upon something at a great price. But if it is something people are likely to make a trip to the store for because they saw it in the paper, I do think it's rude to wipe out the whole supply.

I have to wonder if she had a store that she was reselling it at? that happens alot around here. when the sodas was on sale 5/10.oo and there was 1.00 off coupons there where they were, the sodas were sold out the entire time that they were on sale. the coupons got gone the first day they were there. the cker told me that some man got them all and was buying the sodas and then reselling them for a much higher price in his own store.
