Need a name for my salon

I'll be opening my own salon in just a few months and am stumped on a name! I don't care if it's a play on words, just don't want something sounding too foo foo. I want it to be a name that sounds approachable, if that makes any sense. It will be hair, manicures, pedicures, and facial waxing. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

I was just coming on to post that one! It was the name of the salon that Carrie Fisher had in "The Blues Brothers" I always thought it was a great name for a salon.

Congrats on opening a salon!

I used to be a manicurist (before I became a SAHM 11 years ago) and the salon I used to work in was The Wild Hair. I thought it was a great name. When a few of us were thinking of opening a salon, the name was going to be Head to Toe.

Hopefully these will help spur some ideas.

How about "CUT" or "STYLE" Salon. Seems like one word businesses are popular.
You can name it after the street it is on....Main Street Salon. ....or name it after the town it is located in...
like Malibu Salon ...
Congratulation on opening your own salon!

we have one of those in town. I would make sure whatever you do, make sure you can own the URL for it because in this day and age, you'll want to have at least your price list on a webpage

We used to have "The Head Chop" around here - I think it's gone now.

Also "Tangles" - I like that one.

Good luck! How exciting!

Do we get a discount if we say "Hey - I'm one of your mycoupon friends!"

We have a Curl Up and Dye here as well. Matter of fact, we've got more hair salons on Main Street than just about anything. (Except bars)

One of them is called Studio 220, because the address of the salon is 220 Main Street. I've always kind of liked that name.

Lightbulb Mine

I am a cosmetologiest too!
The name of my salon is New Image.

Previously, I worked at a salon owned by someone else.
The name of that shop was Brittney's Mane Attraction.

One of the teachers who taught me cosmetology also had a shop. His shop was La' Roche'
His last name is Roach and the above is french for Roach... (I think it's french, or maybe some other language.)

Around here, we have the following salon names:

Flair for Hair
Shear Perfections
Designer's Touch
The Hair Show
Mane Attraction
The Kutting Edge
Cut & Curl
Expressions by Penny (or whatver the 1st name)
Linda's Beauty & Barber
Cutting Crazy

**Let us know what you decide, I am interested to hear!

Too cute!

The one I work at is Renaissance Salon & Spa. It went along with the feeling after the hurricane and the "renaissance of New Orleans" kick that everyone was on.

I would suggest looking at what you'd want your logo / sign to look like. If I were opening my own salon/spa, I would go with one word. And if my logo was just like...a blue background and some pretty writing, maybe I would call it "Tranquility" or "Serenity" or "Salon de Cheveux (French for "Hair Salon" )". But if you're going for an edgy / modern look then maybe I would use part of my name like (my first and middle name start with k & l so..) "Style by K.L." or "k.l.'s klean kutz". Or just use your last name! Lots of them by me use just the owner's last name.

You'll find something awesome! Congrats!

I think that Smurf gave you some excellent advice -- be sure to look up the URL on the internet as part of your decision... Make sure that it is not taken.

In our yellow pages, the ones that catch my eye are:

All About You
A Cut Above
Fountain of Youth (salon and day spa)
The Cutting Edge
Shear Design
Stylz Total Image
The Cutting Edge

There are probably a couple of hundred beauty salons listed in the yellow pages and only the ones above caught my eye!

Let us know your final decision!

Thank you all for all the replys!!!! I've got them printed out and gonna mull them all over, I can't thank you guys enough! And, yes, if anyone is ever in my neck of the woods, all mycouponers will get a generous discount!!!! Would only be fair! My husband's name is John, he thinks it should be named John's Salon. He said he'd manage me also, and let me have 4%!!?? I do like Curl Up and Dye, I've heard that before. I also liked Sugargirl Salon! (i have brownsugargirl as my username because I've been in love with the Rolling Stones FOREVER, and brownsugar was taken). I also liked Bee Luv Lee, my name is Melissa, which means honey bee in Greek, that would be cute on a sign with a few bee's buzzin' around, I don't know, there are so many to chose from. We need to put this to a poll and vote!!

Again, I can't thank you all enough for your replys and well wishes! I will definitely let you know what I decide, and if anything else comes to mind, be sure and post!

Oh, yeah, edited to add, I will probably market towards middle class, your basic family salon, although around here, men tend to go to local barber shops and supercuts/procuts/snip n clip. I don't want my name to be too hoity toity and maybe not attract the average client. Ok, that's all, just thinking aloud!
