Smile What are you buying your little ones for Christmas?

We aren't around my SD very often, they live in another state. Therefore, I don't know what to buy anymore for little kids. GD is 5 and GS is 3. GS is autistic, he has just said his first words last month. We usually just send SD money and let her buy them a few things but we are thinking about going for a few days visit this year. I wanna pick out the gifts this year.

I know dolls are usually big with little girls but I'm just not sure with GS espeically with him being autistic. Are they certain things that would be good for him to have?

Duplos, any types of vehicles with wheels, puppets, tinker toys... all are things that my son loved at that age.

I have a 2 and a 4 yr old and they are getting a Smart Cycle and some games to go with it as a combined big gift and lots of 75% off toys from Target as well. I think the Smart Cycle will be a big hit. My 4 yr old tried it out at TRU the other day and loved it!

My DS is now 6, and he is autistic, when he was that age he loved trains and building thing, so duplos, blocks would be a safe bet. Also at that age his occupational therapist recommended playmobil, she thought it would be great for his coordination and imagination. He loved them!!! But definitely go with playmobil if you are going to get that kind of toy, since their heads and wrist move, your GS will learn and get more out of they toys. Hope you have a great visit.

Thomas the train stuff esp the trains; many ot's use these when working with kids. Also, anything textured is great. Our favorite was the bright builders made by Discovery Toys, but you can get similar immitations not at places like Marshalls and TJ Maxx. Check out www.discoverytoys.com as they have lots of great toys that are perfect for Autistic kids; the prices are high, but you can now find similar at the before mentioned stores.

Santa is bringing some small things, like tinker bell dolls and the stuffed princess dolls from Disney store(for the two girls) and more lego's and k'nex for my son. K'nex now has building blocks that intermingle with legos so you can combine the two now. Also got the new Island princess movie for the girls, and will try to get a game cube game for my son... That's it... We are going to Disney land for our big Christmas present.
