The masses swarmed the neighborhood and I got quite a bit of excercise bouncing up and down from my seat to answer the door... if I had to estimate it would have been several hundred... apparently the whole town comes to our neighborhood... from what I was warned by the neighbors they seem to think that we military are rolling in the money and know how to do halloween right *shrug*

of course I am also performed a public service by eating any candy that had any hint that it might be open!

According to my husband, we did not as many kids as we usually get. We did get some teeenagers, who knew my dd, at 9:15. I had my lights out and everything but, I gave them some candy since we had a ton left and wanted the candy out of the house!

I had 0 I also live off of a highway and there are mostly seniors on my street and 0nly 5 kids between my 2 neighbors so this morning I gave the candy I had to the guys at the garage on my corner and some to the guys who work at the car dealer across the street. I gave the 5 kids Halloween stuff on Saturday just because I only see them on the weekends.

I would guess around 100 or so BUT I thought we would get more. I heard from a neighbor that people were dropping their kids off in vans on another street in our neighborhood. I had posted in the thread about that stuff that we didn't have that problem. Well, I guess we do now! She said the houses near the drop off point were shut off at 7:30 because they were out of candy. She said there were hundreds of them. Well, they must have missed my street LOL We got 2 big bunches of about 15 kids each and that was it for the "crowds". The rest were local kids I knew.

We only had about 120......and they came in groups......This is the first year that not only do I have candy leftover, but the kids brought in almost 3 times as much candy as I got rid of......Don't know what I'm going to do with it all......

Maybe 50 or so. We live at the end of the street in our community, so didn't get much from our neighborhood, but we got some kids from the community next to ours. Plus, some of our neighbors are older and do not participate, so when kids see a dark street they will move on to another one.

We had about 50 kids...DH thought we were going to run out of candy at one point...That's when I found out he'd been giving out two or more to each kid!...So I went and opened up some of those free 10 packs of Juicy Fruit...I was very surprised that was a big hit with the kids...I heard one kid shout down the street "They're giving out Juicy Fruit"...Had I known, I would've gotten all Juicy Fruit with my coupons instead of Spearmint and Doublemint! Luckily, I didn't have to resort to only gum...We ended up having plenty of Hershey, Reeses, and Skittles left. It seems like the kids all came at one time...only one after 8:15. Turned lights out at 9:00. Seems like less and less kids each year. ~Lisa

a million.... our neighborhood swarms, as well. At one point, we were out TOTing and we saw buses (yes, yellow BUSES) pull up at the neighborhood elementary and out came so many teenagers it was unbelievable. They started walking across the playground of the school and it reminded me of something out of a movie. It was just amazing. DH stayed home and gave out candy and ran out super early (I thought he was going to be out TOTing with us, so didn't buy much - just for early and late kids). We have policemen patrolling our neighborhood in force, but my car still got egged. It's just insane.

I'd say about 100. People don't seem to go out like they used to. Many neighbors didn't have their lights on.

I am used to getting about 300. I buy glo stick necklaces ..the kids love them and I feel I have given them something for safety that they enjoy. We only got about 200 this year. We used to be the "Hot" neighborhood in town...now about 1/2 mile down the road another development of $500,000 and up house has been built...the kids may be going there.

Just got back from talking with some of the neighborhood ladies - it seems like there were less trick-or-treaters overall this year. Not sure why, as it was in the 60s. Last year the weather was close to 80, so maybe that made a difference. Anyway, we went from about 25 kids last year to 7 this year. Lots of people had their lights off and the houses are quite spread out on my street. Other neighbors had around 60 kids (down from 100 last year), but they live on the "main drag" where the houses are a little closer togther. I'm jealous of the people that get lots of trick-or-treaters because I feel like I'm missing out on all the fun.

We got about 80 or so. For those that are disappointed because you get no TOTers...head over to a friends house that gets lots and hang out in the front yard with them and check out all the cute kids that are out and about. A lot of houses in our neighborhood will have no lights on but every few houses has 2 or 3 people handing out candy.

Unhappy Tot

We had 1 at about 7:30
TOT was from 5-8
I was really bummed
Yesterday was my anniversary We stayed home in the evening so I could pass out candy
And for going to a friends
We don't know many people where we live
It is an apartment complex, But I figured there would be more than 1

We got about 150 + kids and I loved it! We just moved here from an older condo community where we always got zero kids- it was fun! I love seeing how creative some kids are (moms/dads)

I was also surprised that DH came home with four empty beer cans from people giving the adults treats too? lol

I think we had about 5 knocks at the door, with 2-3 kids each knock. Not too surprising since I don't think anyone else in our half of the building was giving out candy and we're on the 3rd floor. My own kids came home early saying nobody was giving out candy but they only checked our building and one other, I sent them right back out lol.. they ended up coming home with a bunch! We gave out 1/3 to 1/2 of a bag, and I bought 2 bags... too much candy around here!

we didnt get any cause of where the house is, I took the boys to 4 streets in town and all together we have a pillowcase of candy. this was our first year here, we started an hour later than the alloted town official TOT time and there was still candy in the buckets people left on their porches for a "help yourself but please only take a couple so not to be greedy" I was suprised by that usally the first kids through dump the bucket so nothing is left. and I was suprised by how many full sized bars they got they have to have at least 30 in there. Oh, and the ratio between the suckers/gummy stuff cheap candy and the real chocolate stuff was "odd" too lol I sorted it last ngiht and there's maybe a pound of cheap stuff and the rest chocolate. one lady gave out still warm pumpkin pretzels <shaped like pumpkins> Alot of the houses was really decorated up. one guy I've watched the past couple weeks had a whole pirates theme going on with treasure chests, a huge sea dragon, and him running around with his pirate suit lol

We got around 250 trick or treaters. The older woman next door gives out nickels until she hits 200. Then she's done. We had some after that and then we ran out of candy.

cool! I like to give "alternative" things too. Where do you buy yours?

In the past I have given out:
kids meal toys (cuz I don't let my kids have them, they know they are for TOT)
Kool Aid (it was free after coupon and it was a hUGE hit!)
Stickers (6 sheets were .25 in the 75% off $1 bin at Target. Handed them out by sheets)
pencils (not too popular)
play doh

I usually go to my dd's to watch the tot'ers as I never get any at my house.
It did seem like there was far fewer kids this year than last year. An more teenagers than little kids.
The little kids are the ones I like to watch the most. They get so excited.
My sil's father (who lives near dd and sil) actually counts each and every tot'er and keeps a yearly log of how many kids, what he was passing out, and what the weather conditions were.

We only got about 40. It was a total of about 5 rings at the door. About 20 of the kids we got were two packs of 10 teenagers.

One of the teenagers was a tough looking boy, but his costume consisted of just a tiara. Cracked me up.

My cat had to greet everyone at the door (from her little pedestal/scratching post thingy) by the window by the front door. One little kid, dressed as a Ninja, asked, "Do you think your cat thinks I'm a real Ninja?" I told him yes, that I thought she looked a little worried.

I'm not sure how many kids we got, but I know it was more than we usually have. We went TOT with DD until 7:30 and from 7:30-8:30 I gave out 5 bags of candy. There were hardly any houses with lights on and us and our next door neighbor, both of us were giving out candy and it was two houses together, so I guess we were both very popular.

Sadly, none. Our houses are too far apart and few children in the area.

I always get 2 bags of candy, just in case. They are still sitting, unopened, in my cute Halloween bowl.

My 17, yes... 17 yr old went out TOT as "Quail Man" from Doug on Nickelodeon - he and his buds just went to the houses of class mates and then ended up giving their candy to kids who's bags looked empty.

I really enjoy reading everyones stories. I can live vicariously through y'all!

We had 6 so they received 2 full-sized candy bars each. We have large subdivisions with $500K+ houses on builder's 1/2A both up and down the street from us. The kids (including my own) tend to go there to be with their friends and to be able to hit lots of houses without as much walking as where we are and folks have more acreage.

We only had about 25 Only 4 of those were little ones. I love passing out TOT candy but this neighborhood seems to not be into Halloween much.
The street behind us always holds a big block party during TOT and Dh stops with the kiddos. They have hotdogs, a big sheet cake, punch, and ,of course, candy. The kids love stopping there. Ds knows most the boys around here so he gets to chit chat with his friends while they eat..lol
My oldest is 16 and stayed home this year. We had a bunch of her friends stop by at the end of TOT so I loaded them up! I bought 15 of those big bags from the TRU sale and had TONS left. They were all pretty excited since most hadn't gone TOT. I just grabbed handfulls and loaded them up. I could hear them outside talking about all the candy I gave them and told dd that her mom was pretty cool.

I had about 70. That's the most I have had since I lived here. Last year I think I had about 15!
I gave out those little jars of playdough. I asked the parents before I put them in the bags if the little ones could have them. Those pixie sticks that are as big as a small child. lol Also butterfingers and milky ways. I gave them one of each unless they didn't want one of something. I had soooo much fun this year. It's like a big block party on our street that night. Everyone visiting each other. This one group of older kids came to the house. They were all dressed up with blood and everything. But the last one looked about 15-16. They must have made him go with them. It was so funny because he had black jeans, a black hoodie and these black wings on. I was looking down putting everything in all the bags. I looked up after I put his in and he said " I have wings on" like he felt bad that he was there. It was so sweet and sad at the same time. Very polite kids too. I try to give out something different each year.
I did the glow sticks the first year I was here. I got 200, they were a big hit but I didnt have close to that many kids so I gave them to the church next door for the kids overnight (non halloween) party.

We must have had over 400 this year. I gave away glow bracelets, too, and I went through 645. For about the first half hour, I gave 2 a piece, then when I saw the crowds, I cut it to one a piece.... and I still ran out before the end of the night. I also went through pounds upon pounds of candy and it wasn't enough either. My kids ended up giving up some of their candy to the TOT'ers.

We had a full graveyard this year complete with fire torches, fog, rats and skulls. I recieved many compliments from the parents and at one point we had a line from the front door all the way to the sidewalk. We were also showing a little Halloween spooky DVD in the window... so the kids stuck around for a little bit. It was very fun.

BTW, I get my glow sticks mostly from Dollar Tree, when they have them throughout the year. 15 sticks for $1. Sometimes I get them on eBay by the hundred. I give away candy and toys (spider rings, bouncy balls and the occasional Halloween Barbie if I find them 90% at Target)
