Help with collectable

When my DD was born in 1999 they had just started the 50 states quarter program at the US mint. So I started buying her the proof sets for each year and she now has a nice little collection. I would like to do something similar for my DS born 9/14/07. I don't think i want to do the proof sets for him too but something similar in quality and longevity but i can't think of anything other than the proof sets....any ideas? I don't want a "knick-knack" collectable - you know

Try the $1.00 coins, they are the thing to collect where I work

I agree the presidential coins and it will be a set that keeps on for many years just like the quarters.
