Smile Officially employed

Sorry this has been a little late in updating this but it took me a couple extra days to get to the decision. (This is about my previous post and the Herff Jones job.) DH talked to his boss and he and HIS boss approved DH's flex time, so DH will be leaving a little later so he can get our youngest kids to school. (He'll just stay later in the afternoon.) My hours will be 7-3:30 pm and then I'll come directly to pick up my youngest kids from afterschool. DS will be getting home from MS at that time so that's good. I took my pre-drug screen today (no worries there, LOL!) and I think I'm set. I start next Tuesday!

DH and I are going to sit the kids down tomorrow night and explain everything to them so they are prepared. I know it's all about presentation, so I'm going to be very positive so they will not be feeling anxious about this. This is a pretty huge change for them, but like I said in the other post: I'll be "laid off" in June and won't be going back - IF I want to - until next November! So that in and of itself is a huge plus.

Cross your fingers... I'm really excited, a little nervous, but mostly excited. I think this will be very good for me!

Thanks for reading!
Suzanne

Congratulations on finding a way to make it work. I was going to ask if your husband could be flexible with his job... I'm glad that the two of you found a way to make this work together.

Congrats Suzanne! I'm confident that your family will find a new routine and be in the groove before you know it. It isn't always easy, there will be bumps along the way, but it is rewarding - both personally and financially!

Unhappy Mmm.. kids are not 100% happy about this

My oldest is definitely upset with me (it doesn't help that he got his braces on two days ago and is trying to adjust to that, too). I told DS that there might be a *possibility* that he'll have to ride the bus, which is ADAMANTLY against. (Here, middle and high schoolers ride the bus together, and that has always upset me, which is why I've tortured myself with car lines for so long.) Then he got mad when I said I was getting someone to clean the house, b/c NO WAY am I working 40 hours, then cooking, laundry, taking care of the 3 kids AND cleaning a 3400 sq ft home on top of it. NO WAY, Jose! I told DH that was non-negotiable! But DS is mad about that, too, thinking that we'll be ripped off why I'm gone (first - we don't have anything valuable here! second - the person that cleans the house WILL HAVE to be here by themselves, we'll all be gone until 4'ish and there's no way I want someone cleaning here in the late afternoon, when we're tired, doing homework, cooking, etc etc.)

The twins are OK, DS is happy about afterschool and DD is very sensitive and close to me, so... she's just a little - I don't know - saying she'll miss me, etc etc.

I'm emotionally beat. I tried my hardest to put a positive spin on it.... I understand that I've totally rocked their little worlds with my announcement....

They'll survive. I think it's good for kids to know that the earth doesn't spin around them all the time.

I am sure it will all work out for you. I recently changed jobs AND my kids school. My kids were really mad about it, but are doing great.

Kids get nervous about change but bounce back quick!
