Yes you need to use iTunes to download onto an IPod. I didn't realize this either until my DD bought one. I swear I downloaded music to her friend's without iTunes though. For my DD's IPod I download from Limewire and then have to use iTunes to "open" it to play then it goes to the iTunes library. I would like to find a way to get my Limewire downloads to go straight to my iTune library but I don't know how.

I think if you update your library on I tunes it will work, I know mine does.

I have an iPod and I use limewire. I download songs using limewire and store them in my music folder on my computer. I then transfer the music folder over to iTunes and then connect my iPod to my computer and then the songs are transfered from iTunes to my iPod. Make sense? If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

The music can come from anywhere that has MP3's, included your CD collection. iTunes is just used for updating, but it's not mandatory for purchasing. If you're clever, there are also third-party programs you can use to update an iPod with, but I haven't gone there yet. I love epitonic.com for music.

| I do not know if there is a certain way to program it or not. What I do is download the songs. Then I click on library and enrique my songs which places them on a list at the bottom. I then click and drag them to my desktop and then drag them into my music folder then play them on itues. Once iTunes is open, you can click on "add folder to library or add song to library" and search among your music folder. I hope this makes sense. PM me if I can help better. Once you get the hang of it, it becauses second nature.

Very easy. Have both limewire and i-Tunes open. Highlight a song from limewire you want to transfer, press your left mouse button, keep pressing and drag to your I-Tunes window. I-Tunes will pop up, and release it by letting go of the mouse in your music library. No need for folders or anything on your computer. Just drag and drop. Hope that helps. |

I thought the Peer to Peer Sharing programs were still technically illegal. Isn't that basically what Napster and Bearshare were? I'll have to look into LimeWire.

Maybe you could download the songs from Limewire, then put em on a CD - than, upload them back to the computer and upload em to your shuffle. I know it sounds confusing, but I think that is what my SIL does when she was getting all those FREE Song Downloads from Aquafresh & The Connect Store.

I think it's a fine legal balance. They only provide the software, the illegality is on the peer to peer downloading. Basically I think they say, here is our software, if you choose to do something illegal with it, it's on you. Kind of like gun manufacturers.....ya know??
