I would suggest that perhaps you go to your local high school or junior college and check with counselors or staff or career center to get a suggestion of an outstanding student who they might suggest hiring. They will be less expensive, but probably more eager as a tutor. You will not have to hire a long-term contract so if the "fit" doesn't work, you can try someone/somnething else.

Not sure what your childs age is but, my son goes to a Catholic high school and he has to tutor 20 hours as part of his graduation and honor society requirements, You may try there if you have one near you. He has to do it for free and it is elementary thru 11th grades. It is done at the childs school or his high school. Good Luck.
