The writers strike?

Does anybody know what the terms are that the writers are looking for? I'm really sad that some shows are already halting production.....I'm watching shows more sparingly that are already recorded on my DVR to make them last.....The networks and movie studios have to be losing money with this, so I was just wondering what the writers were after, that the big cheeses don't want to cave in on......

I seem to recall hearing they wanted larger percentages of the DVD sales or something like that - haven't really been paying much attention...

Anybody know if they get paid for people who watch the shows on the net? Seems like more and more people are doing that.....

This is what it said on Fox news
"No new negotiations have been scheduled on the main sticking points between writers and producers: payments from DVDs and shows offered on the Internet."
Too sad, I'll miss 24.

I can see why some shows have to have writers (like the sit-coms, etc.) and show reruns, but I can't understand why late night (like Letterman and Leno) have to have writers. I mean, they're talk-show hosts and comedians -- don't they write their own material?? That one confuses me.

I am going to miss Desperate Housewives. I hear this Sunday is the last one till the writer's strike is over!!

A lot of late night hosts (including Leno, Letterman, and Conan O'Brien) do write their own material. But they are part of writer's union and are joining the picket lines, that's why late night shows are doing reruns.

I was just sitting here wondering with the writers on strike, and many shows going on hiatus, what is happening to all the other workers like the makeup artists, wardrobe people, and set people etc......
