**EVERYONE** needs to remember

that this is a FREE to us site. Meaning the site is run by people who have to make money in order to keep the site running. How do they make that money?? Do they ask us for payment everytime we come here? NO~ They make money by running ads (as does 99.99% of other sites as well). Websites aren't free ya'll.... especially ones that are busy like this using the bandwith this one does. Deal with the ads, let the kinks run their course and quite gripping about it. EVERY site has something to deal with... so either suck it up or move on~ I am personally tired of seeing 2-3-4 threads about how bad it is here.. if you don't like it then leave. Plain and simple... no need for drama creating.. Just leave if you aren't happy with the set up. I personally am choosing to deal with it, because aside from a few ads problems, this place rocks and I am learn so much that a few annoying ads are worth my time.

Heck I remember way back when msn first got ads in the groups.. they were annoying and long time loading.. now they are not even paid attention to.

AMEN!!! I agree 100%.

Pointing out bugs, errors, and oversights is helpful to getting them rectified as the tech folks work through the new iboard mplementation. No drama needed.....just information.

Funny. I was about to post the same thing this morning. I'm shocked at the number of people wanting to jump ship because of a tempory set-back. I love this place and have learned a lot, and saved a lot because of it. And I've made some friends.

I agree that we should post ideas/suggestions. I don't see any need to gripe and complain and make a mad rush to find other sites. With that said, I do check out other competitive sites but prefer mycoupons to all of them.

About the slow loading....this is what I do: I open 2 windows to mycoupons and open a different thread on each. When I'm done reading one, I go back to the other window and it's loaded. I click back and forth, read a thread, and go back to the other window. Multi-tasking works.

God bless you all. We are a small team and I'm personally involved in working on this. If you noticed a short outage this morning, that was me grabbing a copy of the data so I can work some magic and spread the load. We will get things fast again as quickly as I possibly can. I hope for at least a small improvement today.

I get what you are saying, but you also need to realize that many people paid money to join the site and were promised no ads. I wasn't one of them, but there are people who paid for a lifetime membership and that included no ads.

That was way back in 2000, wasn' it? I don't remember that promise, I had paid too.

But I realize as a consumer, economies change. NO ONE can predict how hard hit a business will or will not become. I think we all know at this point the "dot com" industry fell hard and horribly.

I don't mind ads. I just don't want them every 2 posts. It looks like they were changed by quite a bit, it's not so bad anymore.

I was one of those who paid a while back, and I didn't mind, because mycoupons has gotten me through many deployments and become a family to me.....I do understand things have changed with the administration, and they have to do what they can to keep the site up and running....I would appreciate if the next time you are planning major changes, just to give us a heads up, a simple post that you will be tweaking the boards, so we know ahead of time....I will not be leaving, but I will also be venturing out to find some new places too, because when you are lonely and in need of that "adult" conversation don't always want to wait....

Many changes over the years, and I'm sure the bugs will be worked out.....

Do just want to say, some of the ads I think need to be adjusted...ads in the middle of my post about grandpa that said something about there being no Jesus, was really inappropriate to me, but I know not done on purpose .....My daughter was reading the posts, and I had to sit down and have a conversation with her about that, she was very upset.....

I paid the $20 and was never promised no ads...I don't think anyone else was either.

I paid for a lifetime membership and I didn't ever see anything about a promise of "no ads". Heck, I don't remember any ads like this as a free member. The board I saw as a free member was the same board I saw as a paid member, the exceptions being a prepaid phone code for 120 minutes and other boards. Nothing about no ads ever. As far as "many people" say that was a promise, I'd have to see what they saw, because I didn't get that particular memo.

Since a couple others who did pay as well don't remember anything like that, I guess the only way to find out would be to post a copy of the original promises. Unfortunately, I don't have that. Even it was so, I can't see a "business" taking the route of "well, we can't place any ads because a certain group of people were promised no ads, oh well".

It really doesn't hurt anything if it's not overdone - and there are other ways, as have been stated.

For me it's about the "Hereafter".
I was here in the beginning and I will be here after everyone else leaves.
Yeah it's a little slow right now, with some crazy bugs, like what's up with the fonts and sizes when trying to reply to a thread? But hey I have been doing internet since I had a 1.5 gig hard drive and dialup hookup that I had to climb a pole like in Green Acres. (Ok I made up the part about the pole climbing but the rest is true.) So to me things only keep getting better and with any growth there is a period of being uncomfortable.

Maybe new owners, new rules?

Many other boards I go to have ads. So? If you aren't interested, don't click them on. There aren't that many. This board is loading faster for me. I won't change my screen resolution to fit it on the monitor without scrolling to the right or left. Hopefully, it will go back to where it was set before.

If many of you are upset about the deals, freebies, there are many boards out there where you don't have to be a member (registered) to find the deals. I think that this board has just as many deals, freebies, etc. posted as many of the large boards out there.

I am sure there are many Pm's going around for different boards. But, I think many of those boards are small boards with very few freebies or deals on them. They are more for chit chat. People who are leaving here to go to other boards need to be very cautious. Be careful what kind of info you give out on these boards unless you personally know some of the members and/or are very familiar with the administrators or mods. There are a couple of boards that have very questionable people in the position of administration and/or mods. That is all I am saying, as you will have to find out on your own!

I also don't recall a promise of no ads. And even if there had been, I think that everyone who paid their $20 all those years ago has gotten a great return on their investment. I know that I have saved hundreds thanks to the tips that I have found here.

I am pleased to see that things are loading more quickly.

Ive been here since the beginning, And I dont remember any promises of NO ads. Heck I dont even remember what was promised, I've gotten my money out of MC, and I've made alot money in return.

NO , I dont like the new format or the colors. BUT>>>>>>> Im here like the rest of you, so if you dont want to come back that is your decision, we can't make you stay, but I promise you, you will be back . Just my 2cents, Im tired of the complaning and the posting about this. YES, we ALL should have been told before the change, but that is now behind us. Work with it or leave! Our lives change everyday, and this is by no means and end to your life. Just a little inconvenience.

Most of my surprise was how quickly people were talking about leaving! I mean, I understand people are more than free to go where they wish, but do they expect everything to always stay the same at all times, no problems or changes - EVER?

I imagine most folks here are adults. I don't understand the quick impatience? Don't most folks teach their children to have patience, don't overreact, give change a chance, don't react too quickly, etc.? My first thought to posts like that would be "Man, you really DON'T like it here if you can't wait more than a day."

Yet it seems like within 24 hours, posts started of "I'm leaving if this is how things are going to be!" I mean c'mon, a person can't just snap their fingers and all computer/server problems be fixed just like that.

Maybe having a programmer for a husband enlightens me a bit more than most on computer/network issues, but I just don't spaz out at the first sign of problems.

The whole big announcement that one is leaving baffles me too - seems like nothing more than stirring things up - but that's a topic for another day.

I have been here since 1999 and MyCoupons has seen many changes throughout the years. I am still here! I applaud them for all the work they do to this site. I agree with the OP 100 percent. It takes a lot of time and money to invest in a website like this.

I have been all over the web to many different forums and this is the one I keep coming back to. Changes are part of our everyday lives..from the President to the color on our walls! I say deal with it instead of acting like a child stomping across the floor because they didnt get their way.....

Peace out...

Would getting rid of the "premium" boards help at all....I can't remember the last time anyone really posted on them.......I know some of us paid for the use of them, but I'd be willing to see them go, if it would help.....

Until Greg gets things fixed to help the pages load faster you should use the fewest letters in your post as possible .This is because Mycoupon's computer has to process all those letters . I suggest everyone eliminate the letters I and E from their posts from now on

Happy Day

I too paid for premium membership back in the day. That card has been played to death here with every time someone doesn't like something, they say "well, I paid $20 for premium membership so _____" (insert whatever the latest complaint is). That $20 sure is expected to cover a lot! Get over it folks, that whole $20 premium membership thing doesn't mean doody anymore! Unfortunately it's just one of those things that just faded away.

Is MC even owned by the same people anymore?

These are 3 of the most brilliant sentences I've seen posted here.

I wouldn't be surprised if 10 years from now, someone's kids will be on here "but my Mom paid you $20.00 fifteen years ago!" lol! "Get over it" doesn't seem to hold meaning for some, does it?

Chaos, madam or sir, just brilliant.

Seems like things are running much quicker today. I really don't even notice the ads anymore. I was a little surprised when I first saw them the other day, but now I don't notice em at all! I am here for the long-run! :O)

I do believe I remember something about no ads.

What I *think* I remember is that the premium board were to be ad-free.

Nothing was promised for the regular boards at all. We all have always had access to the free public boards, regardless of whether we'd paid $20 or whether we even registered period. It would seem silly to promise that the free boards would be ad-free forever on a site that survives on ad revenue.

I didn't pay $20. I remember thinking the promises seemed like something they couldn't ensure would be "forever", and I really didn't care to have a clover by my name or to be able to go dicker with people behind the scenes. There was just no appeal to me.

I guess I am not seeing the ads that everyone is so angry about. I do see an add here and there, probably between every 12-15 posts, but they've not beel flashing at all, and they don't seem to have slowed down my connection. I guess I just feel net-zoned enough that I don't even see ads that are right in front of my face. They're just part of the noise of a website, and don't distract me. They are rather invisible. You see too many of something, and over time it simply becomes the woodwork. That's how I feel about ads.

Well..I had a busy day yesterday and didn't get online but when the site loaded today...I was THRILLED! McGreg and crew....ya'll rock! I never minded the ads (mine didn't blink?--not complaining though!) it was the download time of the pages. Seems to be fixed now.....

But, the OP is right--this is a free site! We've been spoiled by the speed of the site and when it slowed down--alot of us freaked out! It comes down to one thing---the website is free for all to use! None of us should complain--including myself (and I too made a post or two about the page download time)!

Thanks McGreg, moderators and everyone who works on this site!

We did notice some periodic database errors and we made some more changes this morning to solve those problems. I'm monitoring the boards right now on the look out for any issues but I think we've gotten things into good shape. There will be a few more changes coming to the back end software that will even further enhance the speed. Thanks for sticking with us!
