What's your dream car?

With gas prices climbing like crazy, my dream car is a Toyota Prius. Oh how nice it would be to just fill up once a month! They interviewed a man on the news that was getting 80 miles a gallon in his Prius.

So what is your dream car?

Ford's Edge...I love that thing. My sister has the Toyota Prius, she brags about it all the time. She loves it.

Hey OP is there any way to post a link to the article? I am curious how he is getting 80 miles a gallon. I have a Prius and get 44-48mpg. So you can see I am very interested in how he does it.

Thanks in advance.

Never had a "dream car" but I LOVE my car (and I get 18-20 mpg city which is great for a V8)

There is suppose to be a club with I think Hybrid owners that have races with each other extending out their mileage. They do things like coast (where they take their foot off the accelerator and not use the brake to increase mileage....), they find routes to and from work where they will not need to stop at lights.
I will post once I find the name of that club.

Hashbug, I can't seem to remember the name of the club that promotes and challenges its members to extend out their mileage per gallon but, here is an article about Hypermiling and some tipes to increase mpg Increase Your Gas Mileage

Here is something on Hypermiling...
Hypermiling :: Driving to save gas

One last article...
This Guy Can Get 59 MPG in a Plain Old Accord. Beat That, Punk.

Hope that helps. Some of the techniques of Hypermiling sound a little dangerous....but it would be so nice to get 60, 70, 80 mpg or more!

My dream is a 2008 Ford Escape Hybrid

Sadly my 2000 Ford Windstar passed away today with transmission problems and low low miles of 46,071, not worth plunking any more money in it plunked $1,000 last week. Needed transmission pulled due to seal could find more problems sooooo

My Ford Dealer couldnt get me into a 2008 Escape Hybrid, debt to income issues so I had to settle for a 2005 Escape XLT 4 WD, not something we were planning on car payments but I think it will be better on gas than the van was. Got him today and named him Zuess because he looks like a lab my foster mom walks who is a beigish gold color and thats the color of my Escape.

We're shopping right now for a "new to me" car and I feel like I'm getting my dream car and we're going to be able to pay cash for it (thanks to some help from DH's mom) - an 8-year-old convertible BMW. I was so surprised at how reasonably priced they are and how long they last. From everything we've read, the engines are supposed to go to about 300,000 miles and we're looking at buying one (this morning) that has 75,000 miles on it. Our neighbor is driving one right now (and it's not on its last legs) that has 270,000 miles on it. Woohoo! I'm really excited. I think we're supposed to have nice weather this weekend, too.

Yes, there is...Once again, saw it recently on the news where you can run (via a conversion kit) your car for FREE on used vegetable oil from restaurants. Here is an article about it...

my parents are Toyota loyal....they will not even look at any other kind of car, and they have put over 100,000 miles on every one of the vehicles they have had, and never had any problems with any of them....they were upset when we bought a Nissan

My dream car for years was a Mustang GT...that's just something I had wanted for years. Right after my divorce, they handed me the keys to mine, and I cried lke a baby! It's now five years old, but I love it...and it's paid for...and it's mine! :-)

Oooooh....I'm so excited! I'm getting a new Honda CRV in a couple of weeks! Not really my *dream* car, because it's the basic model. I'd love the higher end, but.....

Yeah, we have a Dodge Magnum, too and LOVE it.

What color is yours? Ours is "Inferno Red" with some really great pinstriping (a Christmas gift from DD and SIL)

We laugh about the fact that -- if we had a dollar for every compliment DH gets on the car -- the car would have paid for itself

DH is 60 and has gotten so much pleasure from that car that it was worth every penny we paid for it.

A new car w/ payments under 300 a month. Dh is a student, so with just my income- a new car seems impossible. Our 2001 cavalier is about to bite the dust. only has 108000 miles on it (which to me seems like too few for a car to die).

Really? DH has a Cavalier with 148,000 on it. We just put $1200 into it, and the mechanic said it should be good for quite a while. His last Cavalier got totaled in an accident, and it had around 180,000 And, we had a friend who drove a Cavalier until it hit 230,000.

I hope yours sticks around a while!
