Where are you getting Christmas pics taken

Do you get them done professionally or do them yourselves?

We do family snapshots. It seems like they are always very much appreciated and commented on -- especially by aging friends who keep cards and go through them the following year.

I go to Sears every year and get the kids pictures taken for the year, we buy the CD of all the pics. I then make my own on Kodak website, using the CD from Sears. I placed my order thru Kodak on Monday, so I am hoping to get them soon so I can start labeling the envelopes and mailing them out the day after Thanksgiving.

I use the studio in Walmart. So far I've been happy with the results.

We do them ourselves. With digital cameras the way they are now, it's a waste of money to have a 'professional' do it. We just take the pictures we want, download them to Kodak Gallery and order what we want.

We have tried having them done, and it never goes well....Trying to get all the kids to hold still and smile at the same time is just way too stressful! So we do them ourselves.....

The last few years we have done them ourselves with the digital. I may take the kids to walmart this year and get a basic package done if I have time

We had someone come to the house and do snapshots and portraits of the kids. It wasn't too terribly expensive and it included our christmas cards and any sizes we wanted. I have spent more money at any of the department stores than I spent with this photographer. I will definitely do that again!!

Usually we just send school picutres but this year my sister is taking our picture in front of the road sign for North Pole, Alaska. We will print those up at her house and mail out our cards.

Last year we went to JCPenney for the family pictures. Very nice quality, quick service and we used a $4 per page coupon for all 3 groups (each child and their family)

I have the opposite problem of Mabear74 - I have such a horrible time taking pictures myself, we bring them to the professionals at Portrait Simple, and they get the BEST smiles! When I try, I get fake smiles, and it becomes a stressful situation for all involved. When the professionals do it, my three truly enjoy the experience, and their faces are showing real smiles! I think they are all experiencing an aversion to photographer mom.

It's worth the extra $$ to me to preserve the kids' and my own sanity!

I'm taking my own this year, but if we were getting professional photos take it would be at Portrait Innovations. They are absolutely the best. I've been to Sears, JC Penny, Lifetouch, etc. and PI is way better and usually less expensive than anyone else I've tried.
