I haven't been out for a couple days but on Monday it ranged from $3.15 to $3.19. I've heard it will go up to $4.00 soon. People are just going to have to find other modes of transportation if this maddness continues. I know I'm going to extremely limit my driving until prices drop to a reasonable amount. Hummmm.....maybe I'll just get a horse and buggy to put in my garage.

West Central AR prices are $3.05-09. It's such a seesaw. Tuesday it was reported that supplies were up, then on Wednesday they were down. Now, which is it? I'll be so glad to get Bush out of office and get a nonoil industry person in. I can see prices here going up to the $3.50-60 range. Of course that would mean over $4 in other places. However, people's driving habits aren't changing. There's still the jack rabbit starts and stops, seeing who can get to the next stop light first. It's just insane. I've always been a practical driver, however, I've become even more sensible. When sitting in line at a fast food drive through or waiting for a train to clear the tracks, I turn the engine off. You'd be surprised how much gas is wasted idling. Grocery and gasoline prices are taking a toll on our budget. |

Ours here in Alaska could probably hit the $4.00 mark by the end of December. We'll see, but thank goodness we live on an island and there is only so much road to drive on! LOL!

Its amazing the difference I have seen in this area as low as $3.05 to as high as $3.29 for gas. I am in Northern VA/Dc Metro and this is just here in VA within 10 miles of me !! I expect to see it go to $3.50 a gal by Christmas.

It's $2.99 here now and I except it to get as high as $3.75 maybe. We are prepared for it. If it goes to $4, we will have to change some lifestyle things (eat our less, etc). Right now our budget can take the hit but not much longer. Luckily, DH only has a 10 mile commute. The bummer is he likes to bike into work but with winter...not possible so he has to drive his truck(11 miles per gallon). Sad thing is, even at 11 MPG, it's cheaper to drive that than to buy a new car and have a car payment. We don't spend $300 a month in gas(about a new truck payment).

This gas hike is a nightmare for us. I have to drive 20 min to take bf to work, then 20 min to get back home, then another 20 min. to pick him up after work, and another 20 min to get home.He had to settle for a low paying job out of his field and only makes $7.90 an hour now.I've been trying to find a day job to work since he works nights.I've been putting my application everywhere but haven't had any luck. |

We are paying $3.05 a gallon for regular unleaded here in our area in Oklahoma. We already changed our driving habits about 6 months ago, but have changed more this week. 6 months ago we started only driving into town for work (both DH an I commute 25 miles each way, 5 days a week, total 100 miles a day). We don't go ANYWHERE on weekends except to church on Sunday 2 blocks away, we have been doing more at home like movies, swimming, crafts, cooking, reading, basically not going places unless it is an emergency, a ball game of DD's, school function or church unless it is something going on in our small town of 1200, we are not doing it. I run all errands while I am in the big town I work in, so errands are run before and after work before coming home (we used to make a special trip on the weekends to do things like that). We had DD's birthday party this month at home (instead of asking everyone to drive 25 miles each way like in the past for bowling, skating, etc, we heated the pool and had a cookout). 15 kids showed up for the party, so I figured that's 15 (50 mile round trips of gas I saved someone + myself). Things I have started doing this week since gas went up to $3.05, I started working 3 days instead of 5 days a week (I am a vendor and work my own hours, so working longer days and not going in as frequently, I only work part time anyway). If I go for fast food or to the bank, I park the car and go in intead of using gas in the drive through (started this about 3 weeks ago). Stopped using the AC when driving, in the middle of the afternoon it gets a bit uncomfortable but liveable, I won't do that when it's like 105 or something though, LOL. We are not heating the house too much yet, it's been getting down in the 30's at night and we are only turing on the heat in the mornings when we get up, turing it back off before we leave for work, just enough to take the chill off the house, it's still getting up to the mid 70's in the daytime here. We have actually been packing our lunches more to save more money, DH seems to be doing better than me at this, he brought lunch everyday this week, I only worked 3 days and ate out one of them. We have a small gorcery store 5 miles away (10 miles roundtrip) if I have several things I need I might go, if there is only one thing we need then I say forget it we will do without, cook or make something different, really try to stick with the to and from work thing for the errands. I am a bit uneasy about the gas prices going up in the near future, not sure what we will cut back on next, I guess absolutely no eating out and no buying any type of extras. I definately think we are in a recession at this point. This gas thing is hitting those who are barely making it very hard, they are doing without other things just so they can get to work and doctors appointments and that type thing. We are fortunate that it has not come to that point for us, but we are making a concious decision to try to do things differently in advance, so hopefully it won't get to the point of not being able to eat out at all or not having to make the choice of do I buy clothing or gas, or food or gas or medicine or gas. It's definately taking it's toll on everyone around here, of course most of us live 25 miles from a major town.

I paid $3.35/gallon on Thursday, and my hubby went to the same station on Friday, and paid $3.39/gallon. It's completely ridiculous. The price of both food & gas has skyrocketed, but it's not like anyone is getting a bigger paycheck to help compensate for this. UGH!
