My goodness how depressing, or is it just me?

I am soooo bummed about the Black Friday sales this year. There is really nothing that I feel excited about, I mean nothing. I don't even think I am going to attempt it this year because it is so bad.

I can't find anything that my kids would be interested in too much and if they would be the prices are still high at least for my budget!

Anyone else bummed?

I agree with you. There is nothing that grabbed my attention The sad part is I always enjoyed shopping early in the morning then relaxing the rest of the day. But this year I have to work because the gov of the state is a moron in my opinion. Yes, I am a State worker. For decades we were given the day off. It made sense to former govenors since we shut down wed at 5 and are off thursday not to have us come in on friday to turn everything on and shut down again 8 hours later. We were told we had to use our own time if we wanted off and even then alot of us were denied the day because of there being "too many requests" so even if the sales were good I couldn't go. Sorry to ramble on there but I needed to get that vent out since I was just informed I was denied the day after thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and New Years Eve

I haven't been out on Black Friday in ages. I just can't stand the rudeness of people much anymore. I find that the sales aren't much better on Black Friday than a week or two later on. I"ll admit that I do most of my shopping online anymore. It's just too stressful to shop in the stores, especially dragging 2 kids with me

There are a few things in the ads that catch my attention, but I'm remembering last several stores, especially walmart had many items still available for days after Black Friday...My oldest DD and I are still going to go out, she thinks it will be fun......but we can't even decide where to go!

If you're used to getting all this off and they just took it away, I feel bad for you. Hopefully you work early enough in the day that you can still enjoy an afternoon/evening with friends/family, but I know how it sucks to have things work out so nice and then have 'em taken away.

Since I cook for Holidays I've always been thankful whenever I could be lazy and stay in my cozy warm robe the morning after a Holiday.
I've NEVER understood those that get up before the roosters and brave the weather, just to stand in line for hours to shop the day after Thanksgivng.
I've never done it.
I think merchants are going to have a slow season this year.
Noone is happy with sale prices that are higher than last years regular shelf prices.

"because the gov of the state is a moron "

hummmm...you must live in the State of Indiana. Surely there can't be more than one "govenor moron" 'er Daniels.

Sorry you lost some of your Holiday time. Hopefully, when the next administration steps in they won't be so cold.

I just about spit tea everywhere because I had the exact same thought when I read that. I really knew better since my FIL is an Indiana State Employee, and I know they get the day off.

I can't wait to get "Not my man Mitch" out of office!

I don't normally like political bumper stickers on my vehicle, but I want a "Ditch Mitch" bumper sticker for my truck!

I was going to say New Jersey because I think they just did this here, too. I have sympathy for your plight but I do feel that in a state that's in such financial crisis (if in fact you are in NJ) that it just makes sense not to give these days off anymore. Sorry, don't mean to hijack the thread -- now back to your regularly scheduled program....

The ads are lousy this year but I am still going out!
There are a couple of good deals at Meijers but Meijer's is only in a few states.
Most of the stuff I will be going for are just little things.
Maybe i can save enough on the little things to be able to afford the bigger things at bigger prices?
I do have a very good shopping advantage.
DH will drop me and DD off wherever we want, together or 2 different stores so that we don't have to worry aobut parking.
And if I make him a list, he will try to get to another store in time.
He is such a sweetheart!!!

I'm not bummed really. I just take it as a sign that we have really all that we want or need and that I personally have moved beyond the stage of buying for the sake of buying. But then I'm a glass-half-full kind of gal.

Both my son and I are really looking forward to shopping this year. Right now we have 3 stores to hit and we haven't seen the Wally World ad yet.

That is good to hear! I was looking at the Walmart ad and there were a few things I could use, but I am NOT getting 2 kids up at 4:00AM, no way. Maybe I will go when DH gets back from work, now I have hope that some of the things I would love to get aren't going to be gone by 7:00AM.

I can't really take the kids anyway since some of it is for them.

I am in NJ. I have to be here 9-5 on Christmas Eve even though my work involves the courts and we were told that they will be closed except judges will be on call for emergencies.

There is one store that had an LCD monitor for a decent price. However, I don't relish the thought of waking up at 2am to get in line at 3am in order to snag one of the three they probably have in the store.

I'll be sleeping in. Perhaps do some shopping online, or to simply surf the net. Will definitely not brave the crowds. I've BTDT and don't plan on going down that road again.
