What is one thing that is YOUR "thing" to make every year for the holidays?

Is there something that people just assume that you are going to make? Mine is always Chex Mix, I have to make Chex Mix so many times before Christmas ever gets here. I am making it right now for my brother and his girlfriend because they are mad because they didn't get any last year and that is all I have heard about since. Pesky little brothers!! Then there is my DH of course who insists that I make it several times because he wants to eat it and eat it and then take it to work and let everyone there eat it and then they ask when I am going to make more Don't thier wives make it? Then there are my inlaws that want me to make it every year, the good thing about them they will actually go and buy the stuff for me to make it which is very nice. They moved to Florida though and I am going to make sure I take them some when we go.

My DD doesn't like it and I am kind of thankful lol.

Now my DD and her friend is always insisting I make pinwheels. I had to make them last weekend because her friend begged me too. They scarf them down. That child is here every weekend and I just said see ya next weekend when I dropped her off and she laughed and said ok, I hope the little turkey doesn't want me to start making pinwheels every time she is here. I am starting to think she is slowly moving in with us Thank god she is a good kid!

Oh my kids love Catt's Dump Cake recipe too. I have to say I enjoy it myself.

My DH hasn't asked me to make peanut butter fudge yet, I wonder how much longer I have till he mentions it?

I am adding buttercreams to the list this year.

45 minutes to go and the Chex Mix will be done.

Well, mine is homemade liqueuers; every year I make homemade "kaluah" and homemade "Bailey's" Irish creme.

Alsomake peppermint bark, fudge and what we call "reindeer poop" here (the chinese noodles/chocolate/coconut/peanut candy) and chocolate chip cookies that I share with family, friends and neighbors

Fudge - everyone expects me to make fudge on both sides of the family. They say they can't get it to turn out much less taste as good as mine. Although I don't know why because I just follow the directions on the back of the jar.

I usually get requests for homemade fudge, the peanut butter blossom cookies and the mexican wedding cakes (russian tea cake cookies ~ like a shortbread).

Oh my...it depends on the occassion. At work, everyone has their favorites, and the group favorite is my carrot cake. In fact the girl in the office said at our Christmas Party I should bring a carrot cake and they can forget to take it out, so she could take the whole thing home and she can have it for her Christmas. So I told her I'd make her one LOL just for her.

Christmas eve, my son ALWAYS wants my sweet and sour meatballs. Christmas morning is the request for French Toast Casserole.

Cookie wise, since I am making my list of cookies now to make, I am going to tell each kid to pick one "got to have" cookie, that they love, cause I wanted to try a few different ones.

This year I am also thinking of making some chocolate candy things, like I made a trial run of those chocolate pretzels w/ the caramel rolo on the top w/ the M&M and DD loved it, so that ones on the list. I am also going to make some fudge, and some Oreo balls. I think it would be a nice decorative addition to the cookie trays.
DS always requests Ricotta Cheese cookies. (Figures..they take the longest, w/ having to ice them and all)
I am not making the peanut butter blossoms this year as everyone just eats the kisses and I find the bottoms all over the place. Instead a girl at work wants some peanut butter cookies, so I'll just make some plain, but I did make the peanut butter cup cookies and they were very easy, pretty, and were very fast cookie.
Other DS likes the cookies I dip in chocolate and sprinkles. Another pain to make, but easy really.

Hey it's only once a year I guess, and I do love to bake for the holidays.

Peanut butter balls, oatmeal chocolate chip cookies and fudge for DH and the kids. My mother always requests spinach dip in a breadbowl and orange balls. I always ask my mother for her fruitcake. She makes the only fruitcake I will eat and it is amazing

You crack me up! Mine is a Chinese restaurant for Christmas Eve! LOL

Other than that.....No one in DH's family seems to be able to make gravy, so that's what I'm called on to do most often.

For me it's buckeyes, snickerdoodles and my peanut butter fudge.
Christmas eve the family insists I make my meatballs and mini smokies with bbq sauce.
I told them not to expect too much in the baking dept this year though, I'm still trying to get ready for our vacation and may not have time to bake like I do other years.

I really appreciate that....my kids have never had them, and they think I'm a nut when I tell them they would just love 'em.

Um I have never thought of that. I don't know how it would turn out.

I usually just follow the recipe on the box to an extent BUT I tweak it. I use the chex seasoning mix found in the stores and then I add alot of garlic and keep mixing it in throughout baking it and I add more onion powder, a tiny bit more seasoning salt and I add more of the worchestire sauce. I kind of play around with it until I think it "looks" right. I never measure it.
