home business

If you could have your own home based business what would it be? I think I'd start a cleaning service.

Many times I have thought of offering my sewing services to others, I love making clothes for my two little ones, I come up with all kinds of new designs, so they are usually unique....I get stopped all time, people wanting to know where I got the outfits they are wearing.....

But I'm afraid once I didn't sew for fun anymore, I would start to hate it, and it's what I use to relax!

I think lawn mowing & maybe like snow removal would be a good one at least where I am at you could pretty much live off that yards were still being mowed up until a week ago here. And then its supposed to start snowing next week. I have mowed a few yards & I thought it paid good. Never did it as a business but I think it would be a great idea I know some guys who started mowing as teens for extra money & now run it as a business oh ya & thiers raking yards to we also have tons of that here too.

I have my own home business and I love it! I have an online gourmet beverage business. I get to work around my kids and their schedules plus sample all the goodies to make sure they are good (at least that's the excuse *I* use LOL)

I would love to start a bookkeeping service. I am an accountant, so I have the skills, but I hate to put myself out there to possibly fail I guess. I live and work in a relatively small town, so if I tried to start something up on the side and it didn't go over, I'd feel kind of silly about it. I've thought about it alot, but never done it. I've even thought if I could find one small business to do it for, that I'd just love it.

mabear, you should at least try a sewing for others and see if it works for you. It'd bring in a little extra cash and it's something you enjoy! If you find it's a burden, you can always stop.

I sew about 2 hours a day, making tote bags, backpacks, cosmetic bags, and hacky sacks. DS sells them at festivals and DH sells them at work. I also make wine bottles for a local winery. They give me an order (anywhere from 20 to 500) and I fill it.

Let us know if you try it!

I work at a library, and this week I checked out several books to someone -- all about starting home businesses. The books looked interesting from the cover. So check out and see what your library has.

Failure only means you never tried! I've been a part of many small companies, most of which failed, that is the nature of the beast. If you have the ability and the desire and you don't try... you have failed. If you try and fail, you can always do it again.

In 2008, go for it! If you treat your clients right, work hard, do the right thing, even if your business "fails" you still win. It's much better to try and fail (and then try again) than to never try.

Be confident in yourself. Work hard. Give your all and not matter what happens, you are a winner. Period.
