I was looking at online checking accounts. I found some that were 4% (and up) but those are banks I have never heard about. Does anybody have one? Tell me about it, please.

I don't know about checking accounts but I have an online savings account through INGdirect.com. It is linked through your checking account and is about 4% interest. HTH.

I too have an ING Orange Savings account. I can transfer money online from the regular credit union that we use for all of our local banking. Your money is easy to gain access to as well -- I simply transfer money back to my credit union. This is all done online.

ING DIRECT is a federally chartered bank insured by the FDIC.

ING Orange Savings is currently earning 4.121% (4.20% APY). They also have a 6 month that earns 4.80% BUT there are penalties if you withdraw before the 6-month maturity date so I just keep everything in the Orange so that I have easy access to our money with no penalites.

we have 4 ing accounts here as well. very friendly customer service, and it is easy to w/d and deposit. I highly recommend them

ING user here too and they give you a free $25 or something to join we usually get flyers in our local paper for it. I'm sure it's available online too.

My whole family uses HSBC online. Savings account is 4.5%

We have 4 ING accounts and I have my business savins account thru them as well. I *referred* each account to the other for the freebie cash on both ends
