Question Childhood memories

The topic on best toy received brought up something that I've always wondered about.

Does everyone have vivid childhood memories? Do you actually remember things happening? How much of your memories are a result of seeing photographs of those events?

Personally, I don't have many childhood memories that I can distinguish from things that I have seen in photographs. Is that strange? It's not an old age thing....I have always been like this....

I hope I don't get flamed or banned for posting this link. I write for an on-line site and sent this in quite a while ago. (For those of you who think I'm getting rich by posting the link, I do get paid for page views...to the tune of 1¢ for every 7 page views. I'm not planning on funding my Christmas gifts with this. LOL) If you don't want to contribute to the cause, don't click the link.

It seems like I remember ALL of it.I remember all the times I played with my neighborhood freinds and all the times I had with my family and the school years.Actually I remember more of my chldhood than I do of my adulthood. I can't remember a whole lot after 20. Maybe because I really don't want to.

I have better long term memory then short term! It didn't go over so well when I had to take Organic Chemistry tests in college. Yikes.

I have some pretty vivid memories, but a lot of what I remember about my dad is from being told things, or seeing pictures. He died when I was 9 and it just so happens that today is his birthday. He would've been 66 today!

I'm the same way. I remember virtually nothing. Although I believe I have most likely just blocked it out. Because from were I can remember from it's nothing worth remembering.

I have a few standout memories, quite a few vivid bad memories, and everything else is sorts remembered from stories, pictures and home movies.....DH on the other hand, can remember minut details from about 18months on...he freaks his family out, because he remembers things that they had long forgotten.....Its freaky at times!

cj- I'm exactly like you. I often wonder why I'm going through alll the trouble to give my kids "happy childhood memories" when I can barely remember my own. Don't get me wrong - I do have happy memories, its just that they are not all that detailed. I hope my kids have better memories than I do.

I have two very clear memories of when I was around 2. I asked my mother about them and she remembered after I told her but had never told me about them. One was of potty training. I remember trying and trying to go and then once I got up and went out of the bathroom I peed on the floor. I was upset but my mom said it was okay. The other memory is of eating strawberries before we went shopping and then puking them up right in front of the deli. I eve remember the store this happened at even though the store closed when I was around 5. Those were my tw earliest. I also remember a lot more of the later years.

That is me too. I had a pretty crummy childhood in many ways -- but I'm a survivor!!

I remember a lot of great childhood memories and its not from pictures because my mom took very few pictures. I'm 49 and I usually can't remember what I had for breakfast but I can remember a lot of things from 40 years ago. LOL

I was going to post the same thing. I have alot of happy memories though from when I was in my grandparents care. They definately made up for all the bad times I had to deal with.

I remember alot. I have good childhood memories. My sister is just 1 year older than me and you would swear we had different childhoods. I tell her everything cause she doesn`t remember. I can tell you my kindergarden teacher but none of my high school teachers.
