| I had to put one of my kitties to sleep : (
It is with great sadness and lots of tears I announce the death of one of our beloved cats PeTu. Petu had high blood pressure we tried hard to control it, but were unable because PeTu would dart out the door go outside and disappear for days sometimes weeks on end. In the last two weeks he started peeing on the floor, he was very nasty towards my DS all DS had to do was walk by him and he would hiss and whack at him. His breathing was getting labored and I could tell he was swollen up, I knew it was time to end his suffering Wednesday and I called the vet and we talked at length about him. It was decided it was in his best interests to end his suffering and put him to sleep it was a hard decision but Thursday morning when he was making biscuits on me and lost all his bladder control I knew sadly it was time to let him go voer the Rainbow Bridge where he could be healthy happy and run with Sheba and our other kitties we have lost over the years. Yesterday I took PeTu into the Vet. I think he knew it was time when we brought the cage into the house and opened the door he walked right into it and laid down ready to go, something I usually had to fight with him about getting him into the cage. He went very peacefully with much love around him and a lot of tears. The other cats are looking for him especially Snowball who we never ever hear vocalize he has been vocalizing a lot going to all of PeTu's favorite spots, the kittens are looking too. We will be bring PeTu home in about two weeks as we decided to cremate him, he may have only been with us two years, but he was part of our family. He was rescued from a bad situation and he got a lot of love in the time he was with us. We are going to put some of his ashes around the tree in our yard he loved to climb it when he escaped and we will take some to his old neighborhood and sprinkle them around his tree over there where he loved to sleep. RIP PeTu Heres a link to some pictures of him: http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z...Picture011.jpg In my Pantry http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z...u/DSC00987.jpg In my bathroom sink http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z...u/DSC00972.jpg

itscc2u-I am so sorry for your loss. Pets are a part of your family and when you lose one, you lose a part of your family! From the pictures, he lived a good life and was loved deeply. I found out when we had to do the same thing with our sweet kitty (her kidneys were failing along with other issues) that it is so much better to let them go and stop their suffering. Hang in there!

| PeTu was fortunate to have adopted such a wonderful family. Having been through this twice this year, once with my old grey cat(bone cancer) and once with my old Kelpie (old age. 15)I know that it was a very difficult decision to make. Feel better knowing he spent the last two years being loved and cuddled which is all any of us want.

Thank you everyone I didnt get to spend much time home yesterday to watch the other cats, but last night oh my they were really looking for PeTu he has these certain spots he would roost and sleep and they are looking and looking hard. I think it will be easier on the kittens because they have only been here two months but the others were here before him except for one who we have had 18 months, they all may fight in the beginning, but they learn to love each other. I miss hearing him snore. Freer~ That one in the pantry is priceless we were unloading groceries from Aldi and I turned around and there he was all 18 pounds of him in the bottom shelf, had to snap a picture. He was one of 40 cats a elderly man had and he would walk with my foster mom every day when she was dog-walking one dog meowing the whole way so she rescued him and brought him here and we werent keeping him just gonna foster him for awhile, but he grew on us. In july I noticed blood in his eye and I had been through this before with another cat I knew it could be high blood pressure or worse kidney failure, but it was the HBP and he took norvasc for it and did well until he started to darting out the door and disappearing act. As for the other 39 cats they have all since been removed by the county, the man had a heart attck and 911 could hardly get in the house, he hoarded everything including cats. He has since lost his home to foreclosure and the other cats from what we were told they only were able to medically clear 9 of them the rest had to sadly be put down. I know while it was a short stay he had a great life with us. Off to the store before all the nuts get out !!

What a cutie pie. I know how hard it is. We had to put mine down 2 years ago (at age 19) and her sister (who died this August, age 21....Almost 2 years to the day of her sister) went through a month of depression. Was so sad watching her curled up on our chair looking so said. Me and the DH would give her food and water on the blanket and literally pick her up and take her in the bathroom to use the litter box. She had some accidents but I couldn't scold her since the two of them were together from the very beginning. We had both cremated too. Now they are in a Kitty Christmas stocking with their favourite toys.

so sorry-we had to do this in the summer w/ our 14yr old cat Petey. I never expected it to be as hard emotionally as it was. You probably gave him the best two years of his life-and for that I am sure he was greatful.
