Red face so horrible

I think that I am a heel!
I wanted to check on something in one of my kids' baby books, so I pulled them out. Gosh, I have not updated any of them in sooooooo long! That is horrible. There are dates, ages, etc that I can't remember. I really wish I would've done better. It appears that the younger child's book is the one missing the most info I gotta do better!

Anyone else, get kinda 'lazy' on the completion of their children's baby books?

**I hope that I get some kinda of a memory-miracle so that I can fill in some of this important, but missing info. UGH! I hate that I did this. It's time and info that I can't get back.......

I had baby books for my first two, and the second one isn't even close to being complete.......the other 4 have nothing......I just couldn't keep it all up. I do have things saved for all of them, that I think they will appreciate when they are older

My first childs baby book is very precise, when, where he started to walk, talk etc. Pictures taken every 3 months. Second child we have documented when the teeth came in, the age he started to walk and talk photos every 6 months. Third child, her book includes the first photo from the hospital and her graduation photo, nothing else.....I am a bad bad momma.

Don't feel bad, I think we all kinda relax some after the first not to mention a whole lot busier.

My 1st DS's in mostly complete. 2nd DS, he's 13, and I haven't even bought his baby book. How sad is that.

I only did a baby book for 1/4 of my kids---yes, I am bad too! While we do have tons of pictures, none of them are in albums and none are labeled. Heck, on some of the pics, we can't even tell which kid it is!! All four boys looked alike and we recycled lots of clothes!

Well, with my first child, I did an excellent job! It was completed and then some (she is 14 now). I even worked part-time after I had her and took the time to do it "just right". With my son, I didn't do nearly as well. His baby book is no where up to date. I at least do have the pictures in the book (not glued in--just stuffed in the pages and....no up to date info inside) but have not updated it since before his first birthday (he's 5 now!!!). Sadly, I haven't worked since before I had him (can't use that as an excuse) and I can't seem to find the time to get it updated.

Only did a baby book for DD. Never did one for DS. (Its still sitting in his closet empty) Just hoping that being a boy, he won't care about that kind of stuff when he grows up.

DH is the middle of three boys. We always joke that the oldest has his book fully completed. DH's book is somewhat completed. The youngest brother has one entry. "He was born."

Don't feel bad. It happens to all of us. Babies keep ya busy!

Whew...we thought we were the only ones who did that! LOL

My 3 boys are a total of 6 years apart. We moved right before #2 boy was born, so that helps if it's in the house. We also use whoever else we can see in the photos to help. Even DD is confused if we can't see her clothes! UGH! I feel terrible about that, but it's true.

The funny part...when I was pregnant with #3 someone told me a similar story. I thought at the time, "Wow...how can you not tell your kids apart? That's awful." Ummm...that came back to bite me uh?

I completed most of my DD's book. But with moving and going through a divorce I lost track on some things. Sooo...i fibbed on some things. Like losing her teeth. I knew the apx. date, but just to fill it in...i fibbed. I hope she'll appreciate it when she's older!

We have a ton of pics like that.....5 of the 6 looked almost identical as babies, and we recycled tons of clothes....I have to look in the background of some pics and hope I can see something there that will help me out!

I did much of the same as everyone else.
In reading this it occured to me that Grandmothers might like to take over this job.
They usually are told or would like to know all of the important dates and often have more time and would love to have such an important job.

Wow! Now I don't feel so bad. At least I know that I am not alone, seems like most everyone with more than one child has backslided on this task!

at my house pictures sit on the table until I write who it is and where it is and the date.
my grandmother had a ton ot pictures that have no name and now that she is gone we have no idea who these people are. I do recognize that some of them are from her parents side and some are from grandpa's side. That is the only thing I really did do well. I did write down on the calendar when teeth were lost and such so my calendars are like a diary of sorts.

Your job is to take care of your kids, not their baby books! Descriptions on the backs of pictures, or in image file names, are good, but most of us will survive not knowing the exact date we first went potty.

Glad I'm not the only one with this problem. Since I am the one that does all of the baby books, pictures, house and kids everything, I just can't keep up. I'm stressed out and exhausted like you guys are I'm sure. Just too much to do. I have been feeling pretty low about it all for years, but finally decided that I can actually write down the memories or actually live them! I have 4 kids and my 3rd child, her book is not even a little bit filled out. I just can't do it all. Too bad my DH doesn't get it; you'd at least think he'd help with things like that. Add me to the list of moms that will probably go back and 'fake' the book a little. The kids don't need to know! Luckily, my 4th child has been on about the same 'wave' as my 3rd, so I plan to kinda mirror her book off of his. Add me to the bad list! Oh, and I have 3 girls that looked exactly alike too when they were little, so much so that we actually had to get a camera with date back on it so that I could tell which child it was/is! That's actually helped me keep up quite a bit; well at least now I can put the pictures away with the dates on them and go back later when I get time to put them in books/have the dates there.

I'm the last of 6. There aren't even any baby pictures of me! There's a home movie that includes me when I'm about 6 months old, but that's it. I asked my Mom if there were any baby pictures of me and the only one she could find was a picture of my Dad holding me at about 100 feet away. It could have been any baby!

Oh well, I guess I'll never know what I looked like. (Maybe I was really ugly and she's just trying to protect me!)
