Sad funeral today...

Went to a funeral today for an amazing little girl.....Nina Hermes.
She was all of 8 yrs. old, and died of cancer----Rhabdomyosarcoma----the same cancer my son was diagnosed w/ May 2006. Anyway, it was a beautiful ceremony for a beautiful little girl. It would just mean a lot to me if you could say a prayer for her dad, Patrick, her mom Stephanie, and her siblings Michelle and Simon. If anyone wants a link to her caringbridge site, here it is....

I've been keeping up with Ethan Powell's site (ethanpowell.com) and things haven't been looking too good lately

"This subject scares me so bad, I am almost scared to comment. But, it's so scary, I can't even imagine. All I can do is pray for them, and thank God for my beautiful children. Linnybop, I respect you so much for what you have been thru. And went thru with dignity. I am in awe of people like you.

Link didn't work for me either. It is so sad to see these children go through that. I can't imagine what their parents go through seeing their child go through it all. My heart breaks for everyone involved. I also keep up with little Ethan powell's website site and have for months. They did find a rare chemo in another country and they are going to start treatment for him on it friday.

That's sad. My older brother was diagnosed with that same type of cancer when he was 10... 20 years ago, and thankfully he lived through it, but will always have complications from the medications that kept him alive.

Thanks for sharing that-quite encouraging. Wishing the best for your brother. I read Ethan's site-it is so well-written and so terribly sad. Sounds like they have an army of prayer warriors on their side! Thanks for your kind words and your prayers. I know I have tons to be thankful for tomorrow!

The son of a good friend of mine battled rhabdo. He had one recurrance a year out of the initial treatment, and they went in and surgically removed the 2nd tumor. He had chemo / radiation at the 2nd site for about nine months, and has been cancer free for 2 1/2 years now.

I've been reading Ethan Powell's site for months now. Very sad stuff. I've been terribly impressed by the strength and faith of that family.

If anyone wants to try again, hopefully this link will work. Just look at the picture, and the knowing smile on her face. If you were to ever speak with her, you would have thought you were talking to a 40yr. old woman---not a pretty little girl of only 8 yrs. old.

That has to be the saddest site I have ever read. What a sweet little girl. Nina's Mother is a very strong lady, I don't know how she did it and still doing it.It's always hard to understand why a child dies. I don't think any of us will ever fully understand the reasons for it. As a Mother to a child that one day may face a Kidney transplant I offend think about how I will handle this if things don't work out. I just hope I can be as strong as these parents are.

I'll keep this and others in my thoughts.
