What is your monthly mortgage/rent?

This is directed at those who actually have a mortgage/rent so that is why I am not putting $0 in the poll!

I know that it makes a difference where you live in the country... just curious though!

If you own more than one property, maybe you could put the total? It's up to you... this is 'just for fun'!

Thanks for responding...

ours is 690.00 that includes Property Taxes and Insurance which is paid Via the Mortgage company each year. If this wasn't added into the Mortgage Payment would be 420.00 Per Month, We have a AWESOME APR on our mortgage.

My rent is $750 but for $30 more my landlord added me to his direct tv package so I get 500+ cable channels alot cheaper than if I got it on my own. My apt is a 2 bedroom and in NJ that is cheap compared to prices I was looking at when I first looked for an apt. I was looking at studios that were 900-1,000.

We moved from a $700/mo house in TN (just above the mortgage amount) to $1225 for a 3 bedroom apartment in GA... I think the "market rate" that we'll pay after the first year is over $1400, which we can find plenty of houses to rent for that much or less so we'll probably move again...

Ours is just over $2400 a month with taxes, insurance and morgage. The taxes alone are $800 a MONTH! We do get $2000 of the tax money back during the year as a rebate, but still it's a killer.

Ours is just over $1500 a month. It used to be $700 a month then we decided to buy 6 acres... Combine the two mortgages and wahlah! Mucho moola. BUT, it will be so nice when we can get moved out to our new home and have some space around us. Aah.

Your property taxes are roughly $9600 a year? My goodness. Our are going up, and we will find out here in 2-3 weeks what they will be. When we moved in here just over a year ago, they were $3800 a year. They might jump to as much as $6000. I don't know what we'll do if they go that high.

Ours is up to $634 and some change (that's taxes, insurance and house). Our taxes are almost $1700 a year and our fire insurance is about $300. I believe our school district taxes will be going up again next year, too.

We don't escrow anything due to very low LTV ratio - but its on the order of $1000 for the note, $375/mo, taxes, $100/mo insurance including jewelry riders - so just under $1500. A few days work

Yup, sick isn't it. We do have a big house and a few acres, but the big factor is that we're in New Jersey.

We pay $900 not counting the above, we pay that on our own. The house will be payed off in 4 years!!! I would love a newer, bigger house but i also like to travel and be able to do and buy whatever we want when we want. i know we would not be able to do that if we had a big house payment.

1300 here in Maryland. People always complain about the taxes but I keep telling them it is much higher in other places. When we lived in Wisconsin 20 years ago we paid 1900 a year. That is what I pay now in Maryland.

How do they figure out property taxes in your state? In California it is based on how much you paid for your house. It is a little more then 1% of the cost you PAID. It can go up a little each year. So my home was $156,000 when we bought it 15 years ago and we are now paying around $2,200 a year. So if a person buys the house across the street from me that is just like mine but paid $450,000 for it they will pay at least $4,500 a year for the same house. My fathers house is worth more then mine but he has lived there much longer and only pays $400 a year.

Oh and I pay $850 a year for my mortgage only.

It depends on where you live. When we lived in Michigan, our property tax was very inexpensive because it was based on the selling price of the house and it could only go up a certain amount every year. We bought the house through a private sale with my grandparents (the orginial owners), so we got their tax base which was very inexpensive since they had owned the house for a very long time.

Here in Georiga, the property tax rates are much lower than Michigan (about 1/2), BUT they can reasses your house at any time and there is no cap on increases. We have lived in this house for 1 1/2 years and have already been reassesed. Our original taxes were based on the sale price of our home, but it went up almost $1000/year when we got reassesed. We live in one of the nicer areas of the county, so I bet they reasses here more often because they can get more revenue quickly <ugh>.

Thats scary. You could end up having to sell your home because you could no longer afford the property taxes.

Hey, I see you that you found a place in the area. Did you get snow yesterday? Houses have been moving slow around here but the prices have not drop much. Things will change when we get a new president.

yes, we decided against MD b/c the prices were even more expensive than here!

We got some snow and today we got tons of ice.

Kelly, it does hurt. Esp coming from owning. However, prices are REALLY REALLY coming down here in Prince William county, so hopefully we'll be able to buy.

We rented for 3 years before we bought. But we have been in the same house for 17 years so now we could sell for a lot. When the president changes, houses move more quickly.

It's more than a place to live for me, my family founded the area in the 1700's there are still roads named after us so it's more like leaving family to leave here. DH would move tomorrow if I said so, it is crazy what we pay and he has to drive almost an hour to work to make enough to pay for it all.

We do have a huge house, taxes weren't so bad on our typical 3 br, 2 bath ranch, that was under $4000 a year. We bought this as an investment and really don't need this big, so these taxes are usually paid for by people who make a LOT more than we do. My 12 old Mitsubishi is very out of place with my neighbor's Lexus's, Jaquars and Mercedes, believe me, but we scrape by knowing our investment is growing with every new project we do.

Our mortgage is $665.06/month and that includes property taxes, insurance, escrow, etc.

We purchased our house almost 5 years ago, and are at the point now where we owe less than our house is worth. Now we are getting refinance offers in the mail and on the phone all the time (super annoying!).

When we were house hunting, we made sure to only look at houses that were $75,000 or less before taxes. We knew what we could or couldn't afford. And what type/style/location of house we wanted.

Our house was $74,999 before taxes. 3 bedroom, 1 bath, 1002sqft. With a huge fenced backyard. We still LOVE our house!

We pay around $600 a month for our mortgage. I don't even know the exact # - sad . . . I know that our property taxes are around $1200 per year. I have no idea what they are based on, but it isn't the price you paid for the home!

We just moved at the end of October. We were paying $420 (this includes the trailer payment and lot rent). We got a 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom house that's been totally redone and our monthly payments are $906, including the taxes and insurance. Big jump for us and we were so scared.

But actually, we're doing better with money than at the old place. Our electricity is now half what it was and it takes less to heat the house (better, MUCH better installation).

This is in Pennsylvania, also, out in the country. So around here, that payment is a lot. But worth it. Love the house.

I saw something on TV recently or in the paper (I forget) about taxes in NJ. How do you folks afford those ridiculous taxes? It's insane!

What do you get for those taxes? Free cars? Free college educations? Fur coats? Diamond jewelry?

I believe the story/article said that some people were going to have their taxes doubled and they were already paying thousands of dollars.

Seriously, it made me sick to my stomach hearing how much you folks pay. And the kicker was that these homes were moderate sized and not even close to brand new.
