Exclamation Christmas Lights and Lead

Well, as if the toy recalls weren't enuf, you now need to watch out for your XMAS decorations. I had noticed this before on some Halloween lights, last year, but, pulling out the Christmas lights this year, specifically looked on the box for any info., and sure enuf, there it IS!!!! "WARNING: Handling the coated electrical wire on this product exposes you to lead, a chemical known to the State of California to cause birth defects or other reproductiv harm. Wash hands after use." I bought these lights at Target TWO years ago. And, yes, they are "Made in CHINA".

Yikes! I am sure they will find everything from China current and past with some lead in it. The government needs to start tightening up the reins with companies that import items from China and make testing mandatory on all products coming into this country. I think they need to heavily fine these companies too!

Good grief, people. Please don't allow your children to chew on electrical cords. Please don't allow your children to ingest curtain weights. Please do not allow your children to sniff gasolline. Please do not iallog your children to ngest fishing line sinkers. Please do not allow your children to use kohl-based cosmetics. Please do not serve foods from ceramics intended for decorative purposes only. Please change your clothing before coming home to play with your children if you work in teh following fields: battery reclamation, furniture refinishing, ceramics, radiator repair, etc.

But heaven forbid if anyone were to remove a parent's right to smoke around his/her children. Sometimes we can't see the forest through the trees...

IMHO - of course!

This is probably a really dumb question, but I was just wondering... don't pencils have lead in them too? I used to have pencil fights with my brother that resulted in lead from pencils breaking off inside my hands The lead was there for more years than I can remember but today are gone.Did my body absorb this lead?I wonder if it damaged me in any way.

I believe that pencil "lead" is made of graphite. I don't know if it's always been that way though.

On this subject DH and I were just talking about last week after buying a lava glittery lamp for my DDs USB cable on her pc. We read the package and it had that warning. After DH looked into it, it seems most electrical cords will now be marked with this same warning, we have all been using these dangerous items before it just wasnt state regulation to mark them as so before.

It makes me feel like this is our preventable health risk that our kids and grandkids will say "geez, they just didnt know back then"

Pencil - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

No lead in pencils. And somehow, they relate to sheep, too.

I think the lead on cords warning has been there a good few years now.
