| Would you have done something???
This happened not to far from my house, in fact I pass it every morning on my way to work. The bridge has a lot of traffic and I don't know why but all I keep thinking is why didn't one of those passing cars stop and see if he was ok instead of saying they saw him get out of the car and climb the railing. I go over that bridge every day and I know if all of a sudden I saw the car in front of me pull over and the driver open his door I would immeidately pull over and ask if he/she needed assistance or if I noticed anything odd while talking to them I'd call 911. If you were traveling over a bridge which has been a known place for people to commit suicide and all of a sudden noticed the car in front of you, next to you etc pull over and the driver get out, what would you do??? While I know there are a lot of nutcases out there these days I have a very kind and caring heart I would have stopped and called 911 also and tried to talk to the person sometimes it takes a stranger to make someone realize life is worth living. I would like to think someone would do the same thing for me in a similiar situation.

I probably would have stopped, especially during the day. I've pulled over my car when I've seen people who've appeared to be in distress, as long as they didn't look like they were going to hurt me. I've had people slow down to ask if I was okay when I'd stopped for someone else, and I really appreciated it. If you can distract someone who's suffering a depressive episode, you can probably slow them down long enough to get help. It may just delay the inevitable, but sometimes, human contact can be worth a lot.

Absolutely not!!! Sorry, I've been in that area, I would NOT have stopped. In fact, I'd like to hope I wasn't in that area, but, the ?? was "if you saw it". What if that guy getting out had a gun and shot you??? Sorry, I have a family to worry about. Or, what if another car coming across the bridge rear ended you and YOU went over the side??? I believe in helping my fellow man/woman, but, not at the risk of putting myself in danger. I probably would have called 911 to alert them to someone stopped on the bridge, tho. That's a sad thing when someone takes their own life.

No, I wouldn't have stopped, but I would have called 911 and prayed the police got there really quickly. You never know about people. He could have had a gun or if you got too close, he could have pulled you over the edge with him. It's sad that our society has gotten to this point to where we're so scared of another person, but that's just the way it is now.

not stopped but called 911 as well. 98% of the time i have my kids with me. couldnt live with myself if something happened to them because I put them in danger. or them not having their Mom.

A few years ago, a nurse was driving home with her three kids (ages from like 3-9). There was someone stranded on the side of the hwy, and she pulled off to help them. As she was getting out of her car to go up to the other a semi came past and hit her. Killed her instantly, kids saw everything. So for me, I would not have gotten out, but I would have called for help!
