Wrapping Paper Ideas???

After receiving my buddy package from freer, who sewed pouches for the gifts and tied them up with ribbon, got me thinking. What other cool ideas do you all have to make wrapping fun and gorgeous? I am great at wrapping presents no matter the shape or size, I start having trouble adding bows and ribbons. What tips, advice can help make my presents look beautiful?

We had a friend who wrapped everything in white tissue and then glued pictures from her last years Christmas cards on them. Her gifts always looked nice.

Hey polve! I'm SO glad you liked my wrapping!

I obviously love to sew, and they are so quick and easy. Everyone loves the little bags...they *re-gift* them, use them for all kinds of things, and thank me over and over for years. I buy most of my fabric on the $1 rack at Walmart, and get the ribbon after Christmas at Joannes (and at yard sales).

Even if you don't want to make bags, keep an eye out for clearanced ribbon. IMO that makes a package! I love to make packages look special, but I hate spending much on them. Another thing to make them look nice is to tie a little pine or holly into the bow.

I'll add more if/when I think of it.

I followed the tips I found in a magazine to for example wrap a bunch of tissue paper around an awkward shape over and over until you have a round ball then wrap it like an ornament and long things do the same making into a candy cane. Also I recently wrapped bunch of packages for one family and put them in two big shopping bags that I cut out the fronts of last years Christmas cards and heavy taped them all over the bags.
And I wrapped a bunch of packages for a kid and put them in a big blue plastic laundry basket with a layer of clear plastic paper with Santas all over it over the whole basket.
Since most of my packages are delviered or mailed I don't usually use bows but I like to present them in a fun way.
