Anyone have an ACI (Artificial Cartilage Implant) done on there knee before?

Has anyone here had an ACI (Artificial cartilage implant) done before? I had one two weeks ago and I must say......I have never felt so much pain in my knee. I told DH that I would rather have kids or go to the dentist which I dislike. Sometimes I think that if I had to do it over again....I would have never the first surgery. I cannot put any weight on my leg for 6 weeks so crutches until then, no driving and steps are horrible and terrifying. I did not realize when I got this done how many restrictions there would be. I am so thankful for my DH and my 5 girls who help me out on a daily basis. I have some really special friends and relatives who fixed dinner for my family, they would help me by taking the kids to Girl Scouts and just call everyday to check up on me. I love my "true' friends just as if they are family.

If you have had this procedure done can you please let me know your outcome. I know everyone is different ect....But I would like to hear the pros and cons other people have dealt with. How long were you in pain? Is there things that I should watch out for? Etc....

Thanks for all your help.

My husband recently had an ACL replacement (Nov 4th)......he was on crutches for 3+ weeks but never experienced the pain you have been having. Stairs were very hard for him at first too. He is also not allowed to drive or do certain things and is now going to physical therapy 3 times per week.

Did they give you any kind of pain meds to take? Hubby practically had the whole pharmacy after his. Also are you doing daily stretching exercises?

If you still have the pain, I would definitely be doing a follow up with the Doc....that doesn't sound normal to me.

Good luck, I hope you are feeling better soon.
