Is there a song that makes you cry every time you hear it?

The Christmas Shoes, I just watched the movie tonight and cried a good part of it too. I can't help myself when I hear this song..

The one where the guy is driving the car and his girlfriend dies in the accident. I have no idea what the title is or who sings it..."where oh where can my baby be....the Lord took her away from me".....as soon as it comes on my kids go "get mom the tissues". It's really embrassing if it comes on in a store....the tears just flow...I can't help it.
the christmas shoes and I'll love you forever I'll love you for always........they all make me cry too.

dmarie5, it's Last Kiss.

Last Kiss - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

It has its own Wikipedia entry. Wow.

YouTube - John Lennon-Grow Old With Me does it for me. It's posthumous. A lot of his stuff from that period bothers me.

YouTube - Ben Folds - The Luckiest too. He's lovely, but so melancholy sometimes!

Oh gosh! I think I know that song, I've always wondered who did it. I can't listen to the whole thing, it makes me cry pretty quick.

"I Hope You Dance" - Lee Ann Womack

"I Can Only Imagine" - Mercy Me

"Amazed" - Lonestar

"Tears From Heaven" - Eric Clapton - Not so much for myself, but my previous boss. His 21-yr-old son was killed in a car crash not too long after this song was popular. Every time it came on the radio in the office, I could hear him quietly crying in his office. I could never help myself, I would cry too.

Whitney Houstons version of The National Anthem. The pride of the USA on that day was electric. She sang that song like it has never and will never be sung again.

What a great thread.

Songs that always get me a little misty eyed are -

You Were Always on my Mind - Elvis version
I just find it to be a very poignant song about regret.

Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain - Willie Nelson whom I don't usually care for but there is something kind of raw about this song. It is also somewhat intimate, I feel like it is just him with a guitar singing to me.

Live Like You Were Dyin' - Tim McGraw
I usually don't care for more country oriented music but this is pretty good. A very grown up song about letting go of petty things and finding out what is important.

As far as holiday songs go, Judy Garlands version of Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas always makes me a little wistful for holidays past.

Not cry every time, but many times:

"My Heart Will Go On" (Theme from Titanic) - Celine Dion

Such a beautiful love song! I think once you've seen the movie and what happens to the love story part of the movie, it hits a little harder when you hear the song again.

Definitely The Christmas Shoes. Everytime. You'd think it wouldn't bring out the tears after I've heard a million times, but it does! Sometimes I have to turn it off in the middle!

And I agree with the song about "where oh where can my baby be....the Lord took her away from me" -- what is that called anyway?

And not really tears, but chills -- God Bless America. My usually quiet, non-joining-in-with-the-singing church congregation sang it with heart the first week after 911.

It's Last Kiss. Pearl Jam has a version of it but off the top of my head I can't remember who did the original.

"If You're Reading This" - Tim McGraw... don't know how anyone could keep a dry eye through this song!

Also, "Letters From Home" - John Michael Montgomery. Both are songs about the soldiers in Iraq.

I heard this song on the radio on my way to work this morning. Its by the song trust

"Bring Him Home Santa"

Dear Santa, I need to change my Christmas list
There's one big thing I missed
You see my Daddy's working for away from here
And I know Santa, I asked for a Barbie doll
And a brand new soccer ball
But I'd trade it all, for just one gift this year...

Bring him home Santa, bring him home to mom and me
Let us wake up Christmas morning, and find him standing by our tree
You can pick him up on your way, he could ride there in your sleigh
Don't make him spend Christmas all alone
Bring him home

And Santa, here's a picture that I drew
Of him in his dress blues
Mama says our country needs him over there
And you know Santa, this whole year I've been good
And I was hopin' that would
Do all you could to answer her prayer...

Bring him home Santa, bring him home to mom and me
Let us wake up Christmas morning, and find him standing by our tree
You can pick him up on your way, he could ride there in your sleigh
Don't make him spend Christmas all alone
Bring him home

Bring him home
Bring him home
Bring him home

Some others I can't listen to are
If you're reading this by Tim Mcgraw
There Goes my life by Kenny Chesney
Thank you for loving me by bon jovi

I lost my dear father-in-law a week and a half ago and I have this song as a tribute to him on my MySpace page.

"The Freshman" by Verve Pipe Free Music and Lyrics to the song The Freshmen by The Verve Pipe - Rhapsody Online

I don't really know why but it makes me tear up!

Also "Hate Me" by Blue October BLUE OCTOBER - HATE ME LYRICS
Some passages really hit home and I always cry at
"And with a sad heart I say bye to you and wave
Kicking shadows on the street for every mistake that I had made
And like a baby boy I never was a man
'Till I saw your blue eyes cry and I held your face in my hands
And then I fell down yelling "make it go away" just make a smile
Come back and shine just like it used to be
And then she whispered "How could you did this to me?"
