I just read at Court TV's message boards that Jamie Lynn Spears, Britney's 16 year old sister, is pregnant. The post claims that OK magazine is running the story in tomorrow's issue with the consent of Jamie Lynn and her mom.

I have a really hard time believing that this could be true. I guess I was hoping Britney's bad example would not rub off on her and that she would turn out to be the smart one. Boy, I'm hoping this is only a rumor and not the truth!

Boy, those are two thick blondes, aren't they? You would think she's learn from Britney's mistakes. And to think she claims she's suprised -- hey, Jamie Lynn, if you're messing around at 16, you're running the risk. This wasn't exactly an immaculate conception! (I know, that's not what that means . . .)

This is really sad to me. My d/d (10) likes her show, and I had really hoped she would be the sister with a good head on her shoulders.

Well let's not judge one person because of her older sister. Remember this girl is 16 yrs old and they do make dumb mistakes as some adults do, maybe she will do a better job being a parent and maybe she will be taking that responsibility better then her sister. Let's just hope it turns to be a better situation.

Well my dd's will be sad not to see Zoey 101 anymore I mean assume this is the end of it then. I heard about a week ago Brits PG is that true or was this just a mix up wrong sister or are they both expecting I am so confused who can keep up??!!!

Zoey 101 is one of my children's favorite shows. I have been looking for ways to write to Nickelodeon about taking Spears off this show, even if she is the star. I don't want my 8YO daughter to think that getting pregnant at 16 is an OK thing. It's ironic that both Spears and her mom gave the OK! magazine their exclusive about her pregnancy. Didn't they learn from Britney?!

Is it legal to have sex with a 16YO?!

No need, we can judge her on her own stupidity and this one's a whopper, IMO.

Well I don't know, I just think of how many teens get themselves in to this mess, yes it is stupid and I hope and pray my DD doesn't make this mistake some day.

I would be happy if this girl just raised her baby and stayed out of the drugs and alcohol. Hopefully this will be the only "big" mistake she makes.

Thankfully, my kids don't watch Zoey101 so they don't know who Jamie Lynn Spears is. Now, if Miley Cyrus became pregnant, that would be devastating. Tthere was a rumer going around that Miley was pregnant - she denied it and said "I'm only 14" (she's 15 now).

I can't even image what it is like to be Lynne Spears. As a mother, it must be very difficult to see both your daughters struggling and having such a hard time. Eventhough they are "adults", it still must be somewhat heartbreaking.

I'm wondering if this is a publicity ploy to take some heat off her sister.......

I have no sympathy for Lynn Spears....I think that had she not been a "stage" mom and provided boundaries for her children, none of this would have happened.

This is what bothers me the most. A long time ago I actually went so far as to say that I felt Lynn had basically "pimped" Britney out and pushed her to become the sexy stage performer she had become. After all, Britney was the cash cow that was allowing Lynn to live in luxury.

My daughter was in kindergarten when Britney was first really popular, and as Britney turned a little too sexy, I thought it was awful because she had such a following in little girls. You can't be acting like that on stage and consider yourself a role model for young girls. As time went on, Britney got worse and worse. All of a sudden, Jamie Lynn had a role on a new show. I thought Lynn was now going to "pimp" her out, too.

Fast forward a few years, and look at the condition of both these girls. Apparently neither is much of a role model. Maybe neither of them asked to be role models, but that happens in the business they are in. Unfortunately it's their mother who put both of them there.

My daughter is now 14, and she used to really like Britney when she was younger. She has watched Jamie Lynn's show, and she really enjoyed it. Now she is bewildered about both of these girls. When she heard on TV that Jamie Lynn has been living with her 19 year old boyfriend, my daughter said, "Why would her mother let her live with that guy when she is only 16?" That's what I'm thinking, too.

I just read that the 4th season of Zoey 101 has already finished filming and was slated to start airing in February. Nickelodeon hasn't commented yet...wonder if they will go ahead and air it?

So sad, and I thought this young girl would try to learn from her sister's mistakes and lead a straight life. I was hoping that her mother was stressing to Jamie to do the right thing and not repeat the path of Britany. Jamie Lynn, whether she realizes it or not, just ruined her life. The clean-cut show she is on will not want her back, and nobody will take a chance on her. She's done with her showbiz career and barely even got started (and only had a career because of her sister). I read this morning that she was quoted as saying, in her little girl voice, "I want to raise the baby in Louisiana, so he or she can have a good upbringing".
Give me a break. Two very screwed up girls. Funny, this week, they're both in the tabloid magazines, but not because of their successes in life.

I was just going to post this. How does a 16 yr old and 19 yr old live together. They have all lost their mind. I thought Lynn Spears had a bit of control but how can you when she doesn't even live at home. This is such a tragedy because these girls could be sitting on top of the world.

I have to agree 100% with you! With Britney, I think she let her grow up way too fast. I understand that she wanted her daughter to succeed but she was just a teenager and she was acting and dressing much older than her age. She pushed Britney too hard, IMO. Then Britney screwed up her life when she married K-Fed so Lynn moved on to Jamie Lynn. Now...look what's happened to her! Now Jamie Lynn will be a mother at 17 and granted, she will probably have nannies and all for her child but....her childhood is pretty much over. She is a child having a child! She is going to sadly be just like her sister if not worse (at least Brit was married to K-Fed when she got pregnant and was older)!

The age of consent here in CA is 18. Technically her boyfriend could be arrested on statutory rape, although I highly doubt that will happen.

Wow, I heard on t.v. also today that Jamie Lynn Spears is pregnant, and I just said, WOW. Now to hear that she was living with this guy at age 16?! What in the world do these Hollywood parents think when they 'let' these kids do these things? I mean come on, if they are living together isn't it obvious they are sleeping together? The mom said that she was shocked because Jamie Lynn never even broke her curfew, so are we certain they were living together? I haven't read everything yet. Maybe since she makes her own money, and lots of it, it is about impossible to keep the control, I don't know.

About the statutory rape charge, isn't that up to the prosecutor of the state/county in which they reside? I guess every law differs from state to state, but the parents don't have to be the ones to press charges anymore (not here anyway--I only know this because when I worked as a case manager for DHS I had a client that wouldn't press charges against her boyfriend for molesting her daughter, so the state did it on their own. It was a young child though and not a 16 year old, so maybe not.). I doubt we've heard the last of this; I actually bet they end up getting married pretty quickly as she is underage to prevent any issues with the law. I believe they would only need parental consent on that. While I know her Nickelodeon and Disney career is over for certain, I suppose things could be much worse for her. It's not the end of the world, just the world she knows now. Maybe it was a planned pregnancy (even though they claim not). Maybe this was her way of getting out of all of the Hollywood madness and all. Who knows.

Where di anyone hear that they were living together? I missed that part.
