Here's an article on how she lied about being demoted to a janitor because she was too recognizable to be a lunch lady. The school's superintendent outed her and confirmed that she had ASKED for the promotion to janitor before she even went on Survivor as the janitor job was full-time, better pay and benefits. UGH - I actually believed and felt sorry for her.

I guess someone should have explained a little more clearly to her that the game was over and that she lost.

I think they should take the pity money they gave her back.

Wow! All I can say is Wow! When I first read the title, I thought it was going to be she said she said story, but the superintendent said this was a job she had prior to leaving for China. That evidence would be hard to dispute.

I personally wouldn't return the money. However, I would be making a 50,000 donation to a charity. Mark Burnett isn't going to miss the 50,000 bux, during this time of year when so many people are homeless, cold, starving... I would personally give it to a shelter or food bank.

I agree with you Polve. Give that money to charity.

What people don't understand also, is that all survivor contestants receive stipends for their appearance on the show. It is based on a sliding scale. From past seasons I believe that a contestant that came in 4th place (like Denise) received $60,000. So it isn't like she went home empty handed!!! Also, all contestants receive and additional $10,000 for appearing on the reunion show.

I don't think Denise expected Mark Burnett to offer her money for her sob story. She totally misrepresented herself and was dishonest. It makes me wonder what she was thinking??!!!!

Originally I just thought it was her strategy to win - stating the sob story hoping to get people not to vote her off, but the way this has played out, her apology and all, I guess it was misleading and a lie (which a lot of them lied)...and not part of her strategy....too bad.
