What are you thankful for???

Almost the beginning of a New Year and looking back there has been a lot of days its been really hard to count my blessing.Alot of deaths/sickness/job losses this year but I am so thankful for my family, friends and home.Without family and friends I don't think I could have survived
Nothing is better than hearing my 4 year old grandson saying I love you Nan Nan

What are you thankful for?

I'm like you as far as looking back over the past year, there have been some MAJOR hurdles!! But I have come to believe that everything happens for a reason. The biggest blessing I have is one that brought me to my knees at first. I have a GORGEOUS little curly red haired boy, that I never would've dreamed could make me so happy! Not only me, but the rest of my family also. He is the light of our lives. Also, as I've gotten older, I have realized how blessed I am just to have a roof over our heads, much less a pretty one! Also, I'm 40, and healthy!!! A good job to boot. Good kids also! Thing just seem to turn out for the best, we are all so blessed. Remind me of this later in the year when I am whining! (but not in an ugly way.....haha!)

My DH has been in the hospital with heart problems about every 3 months for over a year.
I am thankful that he has been treated and released each time!
December is our "3rd month" and I am thankful that he has not gotten sick this month!

I'm thankful for my sobriety...I'm a recovering alcoholic and this time of year it's not easy to say NO to booze when it's constantly in your face...It's been rough... ~Lisa

(((HUGS))) to you Lisa. This time of year must be hard. Just wanted to give you a hug and a glass of sparkling cider...what we serve at our holiday parties (if I remember it's in the fridge).

We are thankful as a family for the same thing...even my two kids. We are thankful for a dry home. We have had horrible flooding and many counties around us have been deemed in state of ermergency and are now eligible for federal aid. Many people didn't have flood insurance.

Thurston County - Images of the December, 2007 Flood is a link to some pictures if the flood (hope I did that right)

Anyway...we are thankful to sleep in our warm, dry bed every night

I am so very thankful to have my dad. I had to rush him to the ER last Friday and he had to have an emergency bypass in his right leg. The surgery went well, unfortunately there was no blood flow from his knee down for 6 hours. They had to leave his incisions open to relieve the swelling in his leg and he has no feeling and very little movement in that leg.

He won't be home for Christmas and that makes me so sad, but I am so thankful that he is pulling through this. We have faith that he will make a recovery and I pray everyday for his strength, courage ,and faith to get him through each day.

I'm Thankful for........

I'm thankful for my friends and family. Without them, I wouldn't be anywhere. I'm also thankful for my health and the wonderful life I've been blessed with. As korny as that sounds.. that's so real. Growing up really makes you realize what's important. Life is short, spend it with the ones you love while you can!

You are so sweet...thank you so much...your note meant alot to me...Actually, I'm doing ok...trying not to get on the pity pot...There are alot worse things in life that could be going on with me...I'm just thankful that I came out of it alive...I really should be dead right now after everything that I've been through...And I'm most thankful of all that I didn't hurt anyone...at least physically when I was intoxicated...I would blackout and not remember anything at times...This has gone on since I started drinking when I was 17...I'm 44 now...time to grow up and get a grip...This problem has gone on way too long...I've been in and out of the program (AA)...I was a binge drinker...One time I went five years without touching it...one drink and I was back to square one...It never got better...only worse...then the time between binges got closer and closer together...Anyway, enough about that...I have no problem with people who drink either...when they can have a good time and handle it...I'm not anti-booze...just want to clarify that!... ~Lisa

I'm very thankful for good health, a supportive family, and a job that I enjoy. I thank God daily for these blessings. I've learned to be content with what I have and to dwell on the positive aspects of my life, not on the material things that I don't have. Sure I drive a car that is seven years old, but it's reliable so I'm glad to have the transportation. Having faith and a positive outlook helps when things get tough.
