Cancelling Curves membership

I joined Curves in January of this year and would like to cancel my membership.
Is my year membership completed in December 2007 or January 2008?
I want to be sure to give the 30 days' written notice they require in the contract to cancel my membership.

Out of curiosity, just wondering why you are cancelling?? My sister is like addicted to the place, I am actually tired of hearing about it. But I have to admit, for the first time in our lives, she is smaller than me!!! Man, that hurts to even say!! Just temporarily though, I'm turning over a new leaf in the New Year.

I'm canceling the membership because we recently became a one-income household and we are cutting expenses across the board. I also moved to this area recently and don't like the way the Curves is operated.

Good luck cancelling it, my friend broke her foot and was unable to use Curves for a year, yes it took a year to heal her broken metatarsal. Curves would not waive the fees for her or allow her to cancel even with a Doctors note, she was in her 2nd or 3rd year of her membership, she finally got the BBB involved and they refunded her the years of fees and finally canceled her membership.

At the Curves I go to, you just bring in a doctor's note and they stop charging you until you get a release. I would give the notice now and that way you will be covered either way, just write the last day you will be there. Or ask the trainer to look for you. Our trainer will tell you anything she can with information like that.

I broke my toe this summer, I gave them the doctors note and they put my membership on hold. That is what the policy states. I would just ask and they will tell you.

Even if you cancel now, December 20, and it is up in January, what would you expect to get a refund for? For 11 days? The 30 day written notice seems a moot point if you're talking about possibly 6 weeks? Maybe I am missing something.

If you had a 12 month agreement and you joined on January 1, 2007, your contact would be up on December 31,2007. If you joined later in January (I don't know if they pro-rate for partial months or if they go month to month -- i.e. you join on the 12th, so your membership goes from the 12th of the month to the 11th of the next month).

I would call and ask them when your contract is up -- that way you'll know for sure.

Unless I missed it, I don't remember seeing anything about the OP wanting a refund for her membership, she just was asking if anyone knows more about when you can actually give a written/verbal notice to cancel membership, and in the time that they expect notification.

*shrugs*Could be wrong though.

I need to get curves.. if a membership is all that it takes, I am so there! lol!
