Woman Stays At Wal-Mart For Three Days

Woman Stays At Gwinnett Wal-Mart For Three Days

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. -- A Wal-Mart shopper overstayed her welcome at the 24-hour store in Lilburn. Gwinnett County police escorted the shopper home after she stayed there for three days eating and sleeping inside the store.

Between the traffic, the congestion and the crowds -- spending more than 5 minutes at a Wal-Mart at this point in the game, makes up most Christmas shoppers' nightmares.

"It's my first time here but it's pretty crowded. There's a lot of people in there," said one shopper.

At the 24-hour Wal-Mart in Lilburn, police said a 70-year-old woman spent three days inside the store sleeping, shopping and eating at the on-site Blimpie.

"Three days in any store is a little crazy, but in a Wal-Mart...yeah," said a shopper.

Despite what most people think about such and experience, it is likely that because of all the shoppers, the woman was able to blend in with the carts, crowds and chaos and go unnoticed for 72 hours a week before Christmas. When asked by Wal-Mart employees why she was there for so long she simply said, 'I'm shopping.'

The woman was escorted home by police after she paid for her merchandise.

...and I thought that I liked to shop! ~Lisa

Wow. I can see how she could hang out there but how do you sleep there without being noticed?

Moreover, why would you want to?

Actually, I've seen people sitting on the benches snoozing - usually older males, though. I figure that they are just waiting on their shopper to finish.

What's a blimpie? Doesn't sound very appetizing. Wait a minute, was that the sandwich that the chubby guy in Popeye was always eating? Or is it from Dagwood and Blondie? Off to google...

I'm thinking the same thing. How lame that would that be to kick a 70 yr. old homeless women to the streets the day before Christmas.May be she used her SSI check to buy her grandchildren some xmas presents and couldn't pay her rent.

Well it says they escorted her home so I am guessing she isn't homeless.

How do you know it was her home they escorted her to?Lots of homeless people when forced to "go home" will just have people take them to apartment buildings where they will go inside and wait for the people to drive away then go about there homeless life.Or she could just had them drop her off at a relatives house.

My first thought was "she probably found a really good parking spot and didn't want to give it up".

LOL

As for homelessness.

Article says she paid for her merchandise, police escorted her home......she gave them a false address, and then she waited inside until the police left and went about her homeless life, toting her Wlamrt purchases with her.....possible? Yes. Likely? No. But heck of an imagination ya got there....

I was thinking after I posted this thread, that I forgot to include that I wasn't making fun of the woman...In fact, I felt kind of sad about it...To think that no familiy members would be looking for her or report her missing?...Maybe she does have Alzheimers...Who knows?...One time, DH went away for the weekend...I took DS shopping at the local mall...We ended up staying there for about ten hours!...We had lunch and dinner there...DH says that I go into a trance-like state when I'm shopping...So I guess it's possible to lose track of time...But three days would even be a bit long for me...I just got a chuckle out of the fact that we could all relate to this...I was going to ask if this was anyone from the boards?... ~Lisa

I read this blog because I do not shop at walmart nor ever will.... If you'd like to read a really good book go to the library and get The Bully of bentonville. How the high cost of walmart's everyday low prices is hurting America.
