Curious what everyone received for the holidays? Were you blown asway? Pleasantly surprised? Or disappointed (hopefully not)?

I was absolutely blown away by the gifts from my mother and her husband. I've had some health issues, am waiting some more tests/possible bad news/surgeries in the next couple months. Between the worries of the 'what-if's- and the stress of the mounting medical bills, Christmas wouldn't have been nearly as bountiful around here. The kids would've have a wonderful Christmas regardless, but she made it *fantastic* for everyone.

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas!

to tell you the truth, I was a bit disappointed. I know my dh meant well..but he got me a senseo coffee maker ? plus 3 boxes of coffee pods. I did not need another coffee maker and especially one that looks so darned complicated. The pods are too expensive for my tastes.

I did get a GC to Amazon so I was able to order some books I wanted

This was actually the first year my children didn't go to the Dollar store and buy my presents...lol. I loved every one of them in the past. My twins went to Yankee Candle and got me 2 of the medium jars of candles...Christmas cookie and Home for the Holidays (I think that's the one). Both smelled wonderful and since I'm a diabetic, the Cookie one will only make me crave those My 13 yr DD got me a new prepaid cellphone. I had expressed interested in one at Walmart that was $14.97 and you got a $10 Walmart GC with it, so she got that. She's my little shopper So she got the GC, I got the phone My 5 yr DD got me some bodywash from the $1 store and a poff. I was VERY happy this year but wish my kids hadn't spent so much money on me.

I was very surprised I thought for sure my BF was buying me "the ring" so far he brought me 2 just because rings the past few months and said "the ring" was comming. So I was hoping for Christmas, I mean he already asked me to marry him and I said yes but he asked when I was having a bad day and he said the "real proposal and ring were comming" Well he gave me another ring on Christmas eve, it is white gold band with diamond chips and two hearts in the middle and in the middle of the hearts are two red rubies. Then Christmas Day he made me think that it was "the real thing" because he came to me with a little box went through a whole speech of how special I was etc and in the mean time I got excited thinking this is it, it's what I have been waiting for and when I opened the box he had a note that said "Ha Ha this isnt "the ring" but I hope you will wear it and don't worry the real one is comming" This ring is also pretty its white gold with diamonds and pink saphires. Then later in the day he did it again, ths time he made me beleive even more because he got down on one knee and took my hand and got me excited and thinking "this is it" but he took out a diamond bracelet and told me that the diamnonds in the bracelet equal the size stone I want for "the ring" and to just be paitent because it's comming I was overly surprised with all my gifts I didn't expect any of them because I just asked for a new crockpot

Favorites were from the kids. DD (age 5) gave me a glass ornament with her handprint on it. DS bought me the one book I really wanted. Kids got a Wii. Everybody happy.

Everyone was so happy!

We had bread for Christmas dinner made in my new breadmaker, boys loved their guitars, Lego, and video games, etc., etc., etc., and DH loves his 'Band of Brothers' DVD set.

Thankfully, I didn't see or hear any disappointment... all seemed genuinely appreciative.

We had a very nice, quiet day... I'm glad that they boys have another week and a half before school starts so they can play, play, play!

This year was by far the best in recent memory. The day itself was non-stressful and fun. The kids all got what they wanted, and we even managed to "recover" from spilling the beans on DD's new cell phone....(someone gave her a cell phone holder/cover BEFORE we gave her the cell phone) but, we said it was for MY phone, and hid her cell phone, so she was stumped. Then, while digging thru our stockings, "something" rang...heheheh. Her new phone. She was so ecstatic. hehehe. Anyway, it was a great day, DH really went overboard on me this year. I think my best gift was the calender DD made with her hand prints at school. But, the one I will use the most is my new Garmin GPS system for the car. You can even answer your phone on it. TOO COOL!!!!

Only a couple returns to do.....the kids got some stuff from MIL they want to return.

Everyone in our house seemed happy with their gifts. My youngest daughter loved her Wii, but so far, my oldest married daughter is the one who is playing it the most. It was a hard Christmas for her because her husband has been out to Sea for two months and wasn't home to share Christmas with her. My dh seemed pleased with his gifts and I was thrilled with mine. My wonderful hubby surprised me with tickets to go see Keith Urban in Charlotte, NC this April. Now, I just need to save up for the hotel/plane tickets. It was a very nice Christmas...

This year was much better year for me than last (which was a disaster....I cried ) My kids were great - DS1 gave me a down comforter ("like a hotel") and DS2 got me a 7-qt RED crockpot.....wow, 7-qt is big! I really wanted a red one. DH gave me a new digital camera -it's so much more compact and capable than my old clunker - and a lighted make-up mirror. Lots of odds and ends, too. I was opening almost as long as the kids....which is unusual!

Pleasantly surprised....

On Christmas Eve, my son ( age 13) sat down to read "Twas the night before Christmas" story to our whole family (sisters, aunts, uncles, friends) then all of a sudden he stood up and started reciting "Twas the night" , and was looking at me. He was doing his version of the Kay jewelry commercial that had been showing this Christmas season

He said something like: "Twas the night before Christmas and what mom didn't know, that in my new bathrobe pocket was a box with a bow" and then he presented me with a jewlers box from him and his dad. It was a Love Grows necklace with 6 or 7 diamonds. I was totally surprised and cried. Everyone thought that was so sweet. His dad didn't even know he was going to do that. I didn't have a clue.

The next morning at our home with just us, he did a similar thing. This time it was a pretty ring with diamond chips. This time his dad did know!

I am exhausted though. I am so glad Christmas is over!!

It was a another good year.
We got $430.00 worth of gift certificates to eat out.

Our kids know that we don't need anything and we do eat out often.

My hubby got me a Dean Koontz book and he made sure that it was a signed copy. It was signed on 11/30/07 and being the total book snob that I am, I love that it was signed so recently!!!

I really didn't want anything, but I let bf buy me cushion soles for my boots which is all I really wanted so I'm thrilled.I also let him give me $20 so he wouldn't feel bad. We got $100 from my parents and $100 from his mom.As much as we need it ,I would have rather just gotten a card. Also got a box of chocolates each. The BEST Christmas present I got was to be able to see my dad finally out of pain, looking good and not all humped over with a brace on his neck, and a grimacing face.He looked REALLY good, was walking fine, and was even whipping us all in pool.lol. I'm so glad that his eye operations have been successful !

We gave my kids each a Wii game (before they opened the Wii). They said, "But we don't have a Wii, how can we play the game". DH & I listed off everyone we knew who has/got a Wii and said we'd just go over to their houses to play the games with them. My kids (they are 4 & 7) were totally fine with that. Later we gave them the Wii and they were super excited. DH & I laughed that we could have saved ourselves a bunch of money had we known the boys would be ok taking their games to their friends houses <lol>.

My two "biggest" and favorite gifts were a new digital camera that has so many features that I will probably never learn to use them all and a firebowl (firepit) that we can use on our front porch.
We were at our DD's house and we opened gifts slowly and calmly (well except for youngest GS when he heard his package start to talk to him and went wild because he knew it was that squaking parrot !) and everyone got to see what everyone else got. It was a very nice day.

Yes, no cooking on days that I don't want to!
And no "stuff" to try and find a place to put.

The other only items I got were Bath and Body which gets used up
