Is there such a program ?

I am looking for a program that you can put on the pc that you enter your checking account info and it balances your cheekbook for you and keeps a record of it. I HATE HATE HATE to balance my ck book! There has to be something online or that I could buy that will do it for me! Free is best but will pay for the program if i cant find it free.

Have you checked to see if your bank has online banking available. That is what I use, it has up to date transactions and keeps a running balance. Otherwise, quickbooks is a great program, it does a lot more than just balance your checkbook.

I use my banks online bill pay. It keep everything there and I can download it into a spreadsheet to review the whole year if I want. I also like Quicken (Quickbooks is more for a business). Microsoft Money is ok and is often free around tax time if you buy turbo tax. Otherwise, what you are looking for is under $50.

I really like the excel planners at: Financial Calculators - Excel Spreadsheets
the budget software is great and only $9.95. They have good support as well

I love love love Quicken! Can download all my account transactions (checking, savings, credit cards, loans, etc) and enter checks as you write them (since they don't show up in your online banking until they clear obviously!). And I set up monthly bills and paychecks so it's easy to enter them, even have the paycheck set up with the deductions so it can keep track of those. Probably more than you're looking for but if you have those options there it kinda grows on you lol

I go to the websites and download the transactions, instead of having Quicken do the downloading. Some sites don't use the Web Connect option so you have to actually download a file and import it.

the thing you should know about using web connect (where quicken will auto download you account) is that some banks charge for that. My bank charges $9.95 for access to that. I just manually enter them for $10 saved

A simple Excel spreadsheet would do what you want. You can set it up to keep a running total.
