Unhappy Someone is very bored!

I cant believe how bored some people are. Or are you just rating threads to get on other people's nerves??

I actually think some or (one) members has some problems. The thread rating wasn't put on MC to play games with. You should seriously think about getting a job or some counseling. That might take up some of your free time!

Huh? How do you even tell how which member rates which thread? And yeah, if they're doing it, they must be very bored because who cares about the rating of a thread, anyway? There isn't much point to it. It's not like it matters so why would a negative rating get on anyone's nerves? Who would care how their thread or post was rated? I can't see that it makes the slightest bit of difference either way.

It seems whoever does it mostly targets one person.

I do think you hit the nail on the head with the whole someone needs counseling or something.

It looks like all the threads have 5 stars to me.They would have to have a lot of accounts to give everybody 5 stars. At least they aren't giving anyone negtives.

It's extremely rare to see any other threads rated.

I don't get the whole rating thing, anyway. Very High School Clique-y to me.

All very true......... but ..... I get tired of member(s) playing games on the boards. I just wanted to let them know that we do FINALLY have a way to find out who is doing it. So beware!.

It would've been more fun to not let them know you had a way to find out and just call them out publicly.

giggling with anticipation that someone is going to get into trouble... is that sadistic of me? After the week I have had at work I need the joy of seeing someone else fall... or at least be held accountable for their actions...

So do we want the poor behavior to stop or don't we? Kind of mixed messages being thrown out here.

Until I saw this thread, I never thought about rating them. I'm gonna rate this one 5 stars, just for fun. I'd love to find out who is causing all the trouble.

There aren't any mixed messages being sent out. I'm tired of the game playing on here. We are all adults, why can't some of us act like it?

I actually think I am a pretty laid back mod..... compared to the past. No offense past mods! I don't delete threads or post. I just close post when they have reached the max.

I don't remember ever rating a thread before but I'm going to go rate this one a one ,simply because I don't see where the person actually did anything that was actually "bad" .All I see are 5 star threads.
Nothing personal to the person who created this thread who I think is a GREAT person.

Good, then could you tell me who gives my threads ONE star??? I have my suspicions, and honestly, couldn't care less. I seriously think if something like this bothers you, maybe you need some counseling.

Always have someone around that wants to ruin stuff, i couldnt care any less about the thread ratings, they dont do anything, i think I might have rated something in the past but that was months ago it's not anything I do very much. Ratings not going to do anything cause if so and so is so and so's friend of course they'll rate high, just like grade school.

Whats funny is all this time whenever I happened to see a star, even ONE star I thought it must be a good thread.I had no idea that when I saw a 1 star thread that it meant "terrible"
I thought a star just meant someone liked your thread and the more stars there was that was just more people who liked the thread. I bet theres a lot of people who have never rated a thread before who thought the same thing.
So,if you don't get any stars at all, then that means everyone hates you.

Boo hoo!

Now I'm wondering about all those stars on my school work in elementary school. All this time I thought wow I got a star, I did GREAT! But I didn't? Was a 1 star terrible back then too? And to think how thrilled I was when I got a 2 star paper. All this time I was showing off my stars to mommy thnking I was a bigshot when in reality I was terrible. I just don't know how this is going to affect me.

OK. Now I'm confused. So stars are 'bad' things?? I've never paid that much attention to the stars but when I do see one, I do seem to open the thread because I figure it's pretty good. So does it mean that stars are bad?

If the 'powers that be' are upset that stars are being given, then why have the stars on there in the first place? I'm totally confused!!

IrishBlonde,
I remember, unless I am wrong, when I first came to the boards, I thought that off to the right of each users posts, it always had their ISP # visible. I remember when this was taken away, I was like..Ohhhnooo! MC said it was for privacy reasons that it had to be removed (if I am right). but it sure held all accountable and we didn't have the issue of duplicate names! doh! There wer ea few that got around it, but for the most part it curbed it (we just laughed at those who got around it, because we knew they were spinning up not only their time, but also their wheels, money, etc)Then there was a time when people were using another server outside of the US to send emails on a bogus email network. Wrong.. I turned some over to my local police and they actually contacted the server owners in LONDON. LOL Anyway, I ramble..so much drama...

I believe that the technology has always been there for MC to use to stop problematic posters, and they have for the most part. I just think that there for a while, some folks got away with it for too long, did a lot of hurtful things to others over an extended period of time, and it was too late when they were finally booted off.
Even Chuck has been the victim of some very cruel gossip and hurtful things brought on by another website. It was like a pack of wolves around here, literally! I hated the feeling, but it was like a trainwreck..you don't want to look-and probably shouldn't... but... BAM! "okay, I shouldn't have"

You are right, there are a few chosen ones with not just one, but quite a few, screws loose. And they ruin it EVERY TIME for everyone else. Can't they just go shopping or something? Bingo? Drugs? Drinking? whatever.. LOL There has to be some other kind of outlet for their hatred and self loathing.

IrishBlonde,

You and I both (and probably some others) know that the thread rating thing is mostly a retaliation that has been going on for many months and is against one member. Although there was also a time when another member asked about it and then she got treated to the 5-star rating for awhile.

It is childish. It is wearing. It is ridiculous. And it definitely indicates that someone or some people have a few screws loose. Why people feel the need to persecute others is beyond me...but I've seen it happen here time and time again. I feel very sorry for the people do these things as there is truly something lacking in their lives and in the morals and values.

I'm fortunate that the members of the Look What I Found Board are really great - The really outstanding deals are getting the stars - which is the way it should be.

I think the only thing they should change is not allowing the OP to rate their own thread. I've come on the board in the early morning and found SPAM threads with 5 stars...now you know the members did not give it 5 stars! (FYI - I'm not implying any of the OPs on this board 5-stared their own thread - this was definitely some goof-ball playing with the system)

I did not mean the topic itself was sending a mixed message, I meant that some of the comments were doing just that. Those who claim they hate the drama, don't like troublemakers, and are quick to put down that kind of behaviour, yet are pulling out popcorn to enjoy the drama, expressing their glee at someone being outted, etc. Comments like that help stir the pot and that's what troublemakers love. It's sending a mixed message to those who create drama. On one hand their behaviour is disgusting but hey we will pull up a ringside seat and cheer the fighting on. Take a look around. Those threads with drama going on usually have the most views. Why? Because despite people claiming they don't like troublemakers, everyone wants to watch. We can't help it.

EXACTLY!!! I am actually beginning to think this was "created" to stir up some traffic to the board. Wouldn't be the first time.

Chaos, you are exactly right. But being the moderator, I have to point out certain behaviors on this board. And it just this board, It doesn't matter who the mod is at all. I do remember when we could only sign up for membership by one IP address. . There are rules of the forum and some people do not follow those rules and by that, they ruin what other members find joy in. I just get tired of having to point out the stupid things some people do, to just get noticed, or to just plain retaliation on other members. I may never understand how people think at times.

Who cares... stars or no stars. Since I tend to be the kind of person who makes up her own mind about things, stars mean nothing to me. Just because one person might like or dislike something doesnt mean that I will.

Seriously, people who stir up trouble would be a lot less likely to do it if it didnt get them the attention it does.

NO, I'm not kidding. I think many on here would agree that there HAVE been posts created just to draw traffic. I also think you do, or at least SHOULD care about traffic. Afterall, without traffic, I don't think there would be an MC, right?

LOL!! You said a mouthful, dolly.

If someone is having a tantrum or personal issues and is taking it out in the form of "stars"...why let it bother you? The more that someone(s) knows they're getting to you, the more they'll do it. Pretty sad on their end, annoying on your end. Don't be annoyed anymore and you take away half of the equation and all that's left is "pretty sad". (All "you"s were meant in a "general you" type format.

Just wait until the internet won't be so anonymous and accountability WILL be a way of life. It'll be a HOOT in instances like this.

Many?

I've seen it mentioned a time or two, but it wasn't an agreement by the masses - just the same couple or few.

I found this board through searching for coupon stuff. This was when YFB was in it's prime. I couldn't have cared less about any posts that might have been fashioned for any traffic.

I also, am clueless. Maybe I am just naive. I don't get a lot of the politics around here. And so many times, the stuff I read, like this, is vague, and I just don't get it. Makes me feel kind of left out, but maybe that is a good thing. So many times I read about things going on and I feel like I am on some other level or something. I just enjoy the comaraderie here and that's enough for me! Heck, I don't even know how to put smilies on my post! ANd don't get theRep power at all! Oh well.

Me too!!

If you want to do smilies, look on the left hand side of the box where you type your post. There's 11 different smilies there. All you have to do is click on the one you want and it will appear in your post.
