| Mother Lies to win tickets to Hannah Montana
OMG, I'm so heart Broken for this Little girl, What a HORRIBLE thing for her Mother to do to her. I understnad her wanting the Little girl to see the show, But WOW the way she Lied about the Father being killed with so many TRUE stories of Children Losing their Parents. This is Heart Breaking to me. Poor Baby might lose those tickets now all because her Mother did what she did Instead of just writting a essay on how much the baby wanted to see HM. Mom admits lie won ‘Hannah Montana’ tickets Woman wrote in essay contest that 6-year-old daughter’s dad died in Iraq GARLAND, Texas - An essay that won a 6-year-old girl four tickets to a Hannah Montana concert began with the powerful line: “My daddy died this year in Iraq.” While gripping, it wasn’t true — and now the girl may lose her tickets after her mom acknowledged to contest organizers it was all a lie. The sponsor of the contest was Club Libby Lu, a Chicago-based store that sells clothes, accessories and games intended for young girls. The saga began Friday with company officials surprising the girl at a Club Libby Lu at a mall in suburban Garland, about 20 miles northeast of Dallas. The girl won a makeover that included a blonde Hannah Montana wig, as well as the grand prize: airfare for four to Albany, N.Y., and four tickets to the sold-out Hannah Montana concert on Jan. 9. The mother had told company officials that the girl’s father died April 17 in a roadside bombing in Iraq, company spokeswoman Robyn Caulfield said. “We did the essay and that’s what we did to win,” Priscilla Ceballos, the mother, said in an interview with Dallas TV station KDFW. “We did whatever we could do to win.” She had identified the soldier as Sgt. Jonathon Menjivar, but the Department of Defense has no record of anyone with that name dying in Iraq. Caulfield said the mother has admitted to the deception. “We regret that the original intent of the contest, which was to make a little girl’s holiday extra special, has not been realized in the way we anticipated,” said Mary Drolet, the CEO of Club Libby Lu. Drolet said the company is reviewing the matter, and is considering taking away the girl’s tickets. Mom admits lie won ?Hannah Montana? tickets - Music - MSNBC.com

I agree with above poster, yes its horrible for the child but maybe, just maybe this is a life lesson for her. I mean how many of us would have loved to have those tickets? I know that I tried to get them in J-ville and could not. (sold out fast) I would never have stooped so low! This kid has a rough road ahead of her with a mom like that. Maybe one day she will remember the humiliation her mom put her through and will grow up to NOT be like her b/c of this event. Can you imagine what is going to happen in a few years when this kid is in 5th or 6th grade and someone finds out or remembers? She will never live it down when kids find out about it. ROUGH

I've emailed Libby Lu Club with my opinion, the girl has been rewarded with enough something like a wig and amkeover or something, she should have to give the tickets back maybe the lieing mother should have to personally hand the tickets to the person who came in second who actually wrote an honest essay. My kids drive me crazy with their fighting, they get into trouble for things, I love them with all my heart. But I would not lie for them so they could get toy/ticket ect they wanted even if i had all the money I could ever use I'd still not do it cause i dont want them to grow up greedy little monsters. Hopeing they'll grow up to be good men that know how to do laundry, ad cook so my dil if she chooses to work outside the home too can share the household stuff together :-)

This mother is a piece of work. Her spin on it is that it was an essay, she never said it was true. What a slap in the face to children who did lose a parent in Iraq this year, or anywhere. To be so blase about it. Absolutely disgusting.

I think they should not get the tickets. It's sad for the little girl but a life lesson. Did the little girl even write the story?? Doubtful. To me, the word "essay" indicates something that is true. I just looked it up online and it says "A short, nonfiction work about a particular subject.". The mother said something about her daughter writing "essays" in school all the time? Sorry, but we have a 12 year old & 10 year old and I don't remember either of them writing essays in school at 6 years old! If they wrote anything it was a made up story. I highly doubt the mother misunderstood what was expected. My girls would have LOVED to have these tickets! I guess this was a contest at this particular Libby Lu? Because I didn't know anything about it. peapie |

I so agree with all of the above posters. I hate liars. There is nothing lower to me. My kids know, just don't do it. I can handle and work with the truth but do not lie. As far as the little girl, it is too bad. Her mother is totally wrong and should be punished. Taking away the tickets from her is nothing. I live near an Army base where kids are losing their fathers weekly, I hurt for them whenever I hear of another family I know losing a father. She should be made to think of the reality of what she did. |

I think they should have checked out the story before giving her the tickets not after the only one I see getting hurt here is a 6yr old girl & we know a 6yr old could never have made that up & wrote in herself so I guess its unfair to the girl I think the girl should still be able to go but jail the mother isnt thier a name for what she did like FRAUD I would definetly press fraud charges on the women the girl loosing the tickets dont hurt the mother KWIM
