I can't STAND Sylvia Browne

She just made some RIDICULOUS comment on Montel that the reason 2007 was so "rotten" had to do with "the way Uranus was sitting on us"

Then a woman in the audience said her husband had died in August and she wanted to know "was he ok?"

Of course, Sylvia said he was fine. What else could she have said??? "No, he's not ok?" I just don't understand why the woman would think for one minute that Sylvia Browne "knows" something that she doesn't?

Doesn't everybody have their own beliefs about what happens when you die?

I believe that my parents are both in heaven with the Lord.

I used to really believe in Sylvia and her books took me through me a tough time a few years ago. I am not sure what I think of her personally.

About life after death I think everything both faith based and scientific based points to things continuing in a different form. Everything lives on in some way or another. Matter cannot cease to exist it does however change its' form.

I believe that this Earthly life is so that we can become spiritually evolved to the point that we "are ready" for the next life. If you will humor me for a moment, I look at Earth kind of like school. When we are children it seems to be our whole life then we graduate and we realize that it was but a mere sliver of our "real lives". That is how I feel. We live here form relationships with others, learn valuable lessons, discover ourselves and what fufills us, etc. Then we move on to "heaven" "the other side" "paradise" whatever you call it.

I believe that we have been there before we came here but for most of us we develop an "amnesia" because if we didn't why the heck would we stay here? Would you stay in a questionable place if you could go to a delightful paradise? Who would? LOL

I believe we will be in some form that we can "reunite" with our lost loved ones.

I would love to know where or how you come to this realization? I am not being sarcastic, I would really like to know. I think the way you expressed this was beautiful and I 'feel' like I can relate. Any info will be appreciated.

I don't liker her either. You are right, what's she supposed to say when someone asks if their loved one is ok-no, they are burning in Hell??? lol I also think any of us that are fairly intelligent and aware of the world could make a lot of predictions that would come true. Let's see, I predict there will be some big weather events, some famine, some fighting, unrest in the Middle East, etc.... I bet it comes true! LOL

THANK YOU!

I agree, what a fake - I thought she was kinda cool when I initially saw her on Montel years ago. But now she's just a nut. I think the turning point for me was when she said you could make your own Holy Water by putting a bowl of water outside in the sun and walking around it every hour, for 4 hours, saying something weird. That turned your water into Holy Water.

I honestly believe there are people that have the ability to contact the "departed", but come on....

I think she gives people hope and even if it isn't real, the hope is at least real to the one hearing it, kwim. That's why most people go to see them, they need comfort about something whether it's finding love, the knowledge that a loved one is in a better place, or a new hope for the future.

I don't really care for her, don't listen to her or read her books or anything, she isn't specific enough or right enough about things to prove to me she knows anything. I do believe that some people are psycic, so I'm not saying I don't believe any of them, just not her in particular.

I came to these beliefs through a combination of "faith" that is just gut feelings from inside me that I find "proof" of outside of me and through what I have observed about the world around me. The science part is from studying and observing.

Why doesn't Montel rename his show the Montel/Sylvia Browne show. The few times, I catch the show...SHE's on! The nails...the hair...the voice that sounds as if she swallowed a pound of gravel. (Not that I'm any prize...)

Listen to her snap at the people asking questions...."Of course he's happy....bark bark bark." And yes...everyone is hunky-dory on the other side. Would Montel's viewers tune in to hear her disappoint people week after week? Probably not.

annadrose, tfusion; not to ignore, but I try to stay away from politics, sex and religion talk...my mouth gets me into too much trouble. However, I do respect your comments. (I'm a pretty run-of-the-mill chick.)

dnj51; I too believe that people have that gift. My husband had a woman working in his office who had visions and visitors. The office only had 3 people in it; my husband, her and my husband's sister. She was freakin' amazing! She didn't talk much about it. In fact, didn't mention it until she had been working with them for a year. She thought they would think she was nuts. That woman could tell you stuff that there was NO WAY she knew beforehand. The woman was the wife of a Coast Guard Officer, and didn't live here long...so she couldn't have researched stuff...and why would she? how silly. Typically, I am a pessimist...but the few things I asked her aboout were really freaky! Not spooky...just freaky. It was cool!

Can't stand her. She and Montel both prey upon people's heartaches, and I don't think she's got any more psychic ability than anybody else. I know when Shawn Hornbeck was missing, she advised his parents, with great certainty, that he was dead. If she did have a gift, she would know better. If she doesn't (which I believe) she's a parasite.

I do believe there are people who have greater gifts than the rest of us in this regard, but they don't use it for self-glorification.

I remember a few years ago they did a *test* and found that if they took someone off the street, they were just as accurate with the information (guesses) they gave about someones departed loved ones as Sylvia was. I, personally think she is a fake.

I like her and I enjoy watching her on Montel's show.
I do not believe or dis-believe what she says.
I take it all with a grain of salt.
But I do find the show interesting.

LOL, I've thought the same.

Whoa, really?
Seems she should have been discredited right there. I'm not sure I would have confidence in anything she said after knowing that.
Has anyone asked her about that particular mis-reading? If so, what was her response?

Never heard of her, but then again I don't watch Montel. I will have to watch just to see her.

I don't like Sylvia Brown either. I too think she's a fake. And I can't understand why Montel has her on his show ALL the time!! I'm not a regular watcher of him but it seems if I'm flipping thru the channels and he's on, so is Sylvia!!

One that I do like and love to watch is John Edward. I think he's the real deal. I'd love to have a reading with him or be in his audience.

There was also discussion that she offered to help them "find the body" for a fee, which she now denies. Her response to Shawn's discovery was that nobody can be right all the time!

Thanks for the link momshops.

In a written statement, her publicist said, "She cannot possibly be 100 percent correct in each and every one of her predictions. She has, during a career of over 50 years, helped literally tens of thousands of people."
Well that's special. Except we aren't talking about whether the mailman wore green or blue socks that morning. This was a case where the parents wanted to know whether their child was dead or alive. Serious stuff. Being told Shawn was not might have killed all hope those people had.
I am SO glad she was wrong though.

In reading some of the comments on the blog, apparently she also said the miners in WV were alive, when in fact they were not.

What a crock.

I think, sometimes, that I'd make a pretty good fake psychic. It's pretty safe to assume that certain reactions follow certain actions, to know from someone's emotional state what they're likely to do, or to guess from someone's appearance what matters to them. Then again, I think most of us here could do that. You'd just need to work on your showmanship.

Not into Sylvia Browne, though there are some older psychics I like reading about. There are some deadly dull ones, too. No amount of supernatural awareness makes up for a big ego, or a bad attitude.

I know that also she told the family of Opal (young girl missing in Texas) that she was sold into the sex trade market overseas and she had really already been killed just a few hours after missing. They recently, in the last year or two, actually found her body and arrested the perv who did it. She is a fake and a phoney, but certainly makes enough $$ doing it.

I think she's full of it too. I was flipping channels today and she was on Montel again. I caught a lady in the audience ask her, "My son is in law school right now, can you tell me what the future will hold for him emotionally, etc. (to that effect)?" Oh my gosh, I about died laughing when Sylvia responded, "Well, he is going to be a lawyer." She was dead serious, you would have thought she just predicted the last day on Earth. I think I could even hear a few audience members laugh. The lady that asked the question looked a little peeved, and sounded so, when she said, "Yes, I know THAT I was asking about his emotions, current well-being, etc. (not word for word but you get the picture)."

By the way, her son is also a psychic in her 'business' now. Not sure if everyone knew that or not. I agree, her nails gross me out too. Among other things. I think the only reason Montel keeps her on is because his show would probably be off the air without the fan base she has; his show has seriously gone down hill over the years IMO. Now having said all that, I do believe in the psychic world, after-life, Heaven, etc. I have had my own personal experiences and I do believe there are people out there with those powers/gifts. I do think she's a fake though.

Yeah. I'm no Sylvia Brown but

I predict this time next year there may possibly be no Cafe board.
It has to do with the whole Uranus thing....

I'll wait for my call from Montel now...

I remember years and years ago Montel was on tv drama where I think he played a high school principal. Anyway he asked Sylvia would his show last and she said of course. Well the show was cancelled after a few weeks.
