I moved to Texas once for 3 long years and then back home. I don't plan to ever move to another state again!

I love Virginia Beach but haven't heard much positive from people who live there- crime, schools, etc.... Also around Hershey Pa. area. It is so beautiful and still seems small town like where I live now.

Not a big city girl here. We don't even lock our doors!!

Somewhere "up North" and rural. I've lived in So. CA my entire life and I am sick of the "city"! I've love to live where you actually see open land once in awhile.

I live in Va. Beach-have lived here for 30 years. As with anyplace, there are good parts of the city (we have over 600,000 residents) and a few bad parts. The schools are excellent, and it is such a family friendly place. That being said, if I had to move somewhere, it would be Florida. You should come visit. Even though Va Beach doesn't get extremely cold (except maybe a few days out of the year), I love the climate of Florida-would have to be near the beach.

WOW!
That's a hard question for me.
I'd probaly move to a neighboring state to be as close to my grandkids as possible......maybe Tennesee, near the Smoky Mts. Love the area anyway.
New York state is so beautiful but gets more snow than I would like to put up with.
I love New Mexico but don't think I could live there full time with some of the critters that live there!
DH's brother lives in northern California and it is beautiful up there but gets kind HOT in the summer and I hate HOT! Maybe if I went farther north.
I love upper Michigan also, but again too much snow!
Okay, I have the answer.
I would live in Northern CA in the winter months and in the Smoky Mt. area in the summer.
There are lots of things to do in both places.

Ok, since you asked if we HAD to move to another state. I wouldnt move if I had the choice but if I had to move, I would like to move back to PA. I dont want to move too close to family, we have gotten used to being on our own. I would like to move just close enough where they would call to see if we where home before they drove over.

Is there a state where it's like fall all year round?

Oregon has always sounded like a nice area, never been though.

And I'd love Vermont if I didn't have to deal with snow We're going in April but wish it was October instead

If I had to move I would go to Utah to be close with all my family. I have 3 sisters there, and all my aunts and uncles and most of my cousins stuck around there. I am only about 6 hours north, but it seems so far away...

I am a Maine native.....I love the fact that we don't lock our doors and the we have the third lowest crime rate of all the states, but the cold weather and snow is getting to me....
I am thinking Virginia would be nice, or maybe North or South Carolina. My daughter lives in Florida, which is nice, but too hot in the summer.

Since I love the Pacific NW (and live in Oregon), I would not want to move far.

I would move to Washington State.

I totally agree with you except I`d add Wyoming to this. I`ve been almost everywhere and I am from the east coast and love the upper west coast.

Anyplace with mountains, more sunshine, and a more moderate climate than MN!
My very fav states have been NH and Maine, but at this point in life, and getting sick of long and cold winters, I think I couldn't hack it. But I loved the people in NH and Maine more than any other local folks anywhere else we've lived.
DH and I are currently working on selling this house and trying to decide to where to move to so we can happily retire. The Nashville area keeps coming up as a leader. (dh went to Vandy, the weather is decent, services and culture are cool by us, and we can get snow, but not the biting cold we have here).
We lived in the Pensacola area for about 3 years, I hated the heat, but now that I'm older I can appreciate what it has to offer.
We lived on the Olympic Peninsula of WA for several years, loved it, but I can't see us being able to afford to be able retire there.

I have lived in Alabama my whole life. we have one temp. HOT. We do not have the 4 seasons, which I crave. We get a few cool days in the Fall, which we all flip over, and a few days during the winter months of cold (down in the 40's or 30's) which everyone freaks out over. I long for actual SEASONS!!! I have always wanted to move to either Colorado or Tennessee. Maybe one day...

North Carolina. We've been stationed there twice and I LOVE it. I love the beaches, the history, the mild winters, etc. We'll most likely retire to Pittsburgh where dh is from, but that's close enough to vacation in NC.

I would love to live in upstate NY, near/on one of the lakes (Oneida, Ontario or finger)or St Lawrence River. Of course, It would have to be waterfront, have a huge fireplace and we would need a nice boat

I am there now! We recently moved from So Cal to Colorado. We love it here. I love the low crime, seasons and the slower pace of life! It is a great place to raise my kids!

hey jnsp99...where are you?

I moved from So CA in 1992 to Northern CO and don't want to ever move! If I had to, I would probably say So CA ONLY if I could live at the beach (Newport or Dana Point area). Other than that, I just couldn't imagine being anywhere else. I hate hot weather and hate really cold weather. So, I am in the perfect place for me Jeans and t-shirts year round (well;, maybe a coat in the snow but generally comfy)

Vermont because has four distinct seasons. It's one of the prettiest states when the leaves change, plenty of snow in the winter, and mild summers.

I grew up in a lot of different places. Between Va Beach and New Hampshire, I would say summers in New Hampshire would be perfect. my grandmother lives in Plymouth, NH and I think it is so beautiful in that area. I don't know if I could handle the winters there. My dh is from here in northwest Alabama and I think this is the best place I have ever lived. It has enough of all the seasons. We are within a decent drive of various big cities and we still keep our small town feel.
