Angry I hate football season....

Any other football widows out there tonight? DH has been watching it all day and will probably be watching it all night. It's Saturday for pete's sake! Now baseball season, that I can get in to, just have never really "gotten" football. Wish I had made plans for a Girls night out. I guess you all are stuck w/ me tonight. I'll try to behave....

I love football, but I've lost interest because the Eagles aren't in the playoffs. DH is glued to the TV though so I know what you mean. All day I've been cleaning, doing wash, posting my bizarre questions on here (LOL)...He's just sat on his butt and hasn't done much at all to help. That's when I get pissed off. We have three kids and I'm tired of being the only one around here who does anything. How would he like it if I just sat there on the couch and watched soaps for six hours? He wouldn't! I actually like it during football season because he goes to a local bar where they have an Eagles fan club. It gets him out of the house and out of my hair for a few hours each week. Tonight I wish he was out because I've been trying to get some of this Target/Christmas clearance "stuff" in and I can't. He just keeps saying he can't believe how much I bought...that I have a "problem". They don't realize how much money we are saving them in the long run. Alot of that stuff was very nice and cheap...good for gifts all year long! I'll be happy when he goes back to work on Monday and I can try to get the stuff into the house and out of the garage! ~Lisa

GO TAMPA BAY...Garcia used to be on the Eagles...They should have never traded him!...And I like "Chucky"!!!

That's funny. I stayed home tonight to watch the Steelers play, while my husband went out for our Couples Saturday night bowling league. There will be a TV there, but I told him I wanted to stay home so I could "concentrate" on the game. Hockey and Basketball are the sports that I can definitely live without.

After 25 years of marriage, I have learned to actually enjoy football. Now....let me tell you that it took many many years of feeling like a football widow before I finally gave in. What got me hooked was joining a football pool at my hubbys workplace. I started out just guessing the winning teams, but as the years went by I found myself following the games. After I won a few times, and beat my dh week after week.....it became my way of getting him back! I guess my advice would be if your dh really LOVES football...find a way to try to join him, or at the very least a way to get back at him! <grin> Go Redskins!!!!

Hey, great idea, you can come to my house, and I'll go sub for you @ the bowling alley! That sounds like a lot of fun! All I've seen of DH today has been the back of his head. And it's taken all the strenght I have not to smack it! Same here, nothing done by him all day. As I was running out to bring DS to a friend's house, I asked him to throw in a load of laundry. (I worked this a.m. as well). You would have thought I asked him to go pour a new driveway. Sheesh, aren't there commercials?

I agree!

There must be 25 to 30 Bowl games now!
They seem to go on and on for weeks.
I think there used to be only 5 or 6 of them.

I love football season.....When DH is home we are both glued to the Tv on Saturdays, he doesn't care for Pro, so I'm the one who is still watching on Sundays.....I'm always so sad when its over, I feel lost for a few weekends!

I am SO glad my DH would rather play than watch sports! Added bonus of the year: we go out on Super Bowl Sunday to a place without TV's and literally have the whole place to ourselves It's a great date night for us.

I have learned to like it. My husband coaches football and basketball at the high school level. I know it is not the same but I never see him so their definetly no help around here. So when he is not coaching ( which is seldom) then he is watching college ball.

I love football, love to watch, though I don't ever have the chance to sit through an entire game!

We're Eagles fans here, which takes great resilience.

Does bug me though when I realize d/h can plop himself into a chair, get cozy and watch whatever floats his boat for hours without a care in the world, and I can't seem to spend 15 minutes alone in a tub without planning it for 6 weeks!

The Steelers game almost killed me! It was sooooo stressful towards the end. Oh well, maybe next season.

I like football. I'm a Steelers fan and DH is an Eagles fan. We're both originally from PA boy do we hear it since moving up to Maine but we don't care! I can do without all the bowl games, but luckily we have 2 TV's so he can watch it in the other room. I can definitely do without the other sports.

I love football and tend to get more loud then Sparky when we are watching the games.... esp. the Steelers games. We go as far to get the Sunday Ticket every year from Directv so that we can see every NFL game played every week.

Now that the Steelers are out of the playoffs we will still watch but not with as much intensity.

I don't mind football..EXCEPT for John Madden's voice and stupid comments.

If he is not calling the game, I kinda like the sound of the game in the background.

I don't care for Madden either....he drives me insane most of the time....I finished watching the Steelers game last night with the sounds muted!

My DH takes it a step further - he plays Fantasy Football. So, watching football around here isn't just for fun, its for cash.

Love football, love football season. I've finally managed to make DH a Saints fan and I'm working on my two DS's next.

Hate the Pats and dread them making it to the Superbowl.

The only reason I hate football season is that it ends! I love football. Each week we run a football pool, I have my fantasy team (1st place this year, but lost in our Superbowl), and we have a houseful of people every Sunday to watch Sunday Ticket in our football room.

I will admit that it was nice to be able to sleep in and only worry about myself as far as food goes today! After 17 weeks it starts to get a little tiring!

What I don't understand is why they air the same game over and over again (or maybe it just seems that way). It never ends at my house. I hate football season too!

With you on the Pats. After having people over every Sunday of the regular season we will only be having our Superbowl party if the Pats aren't in it.

I guess you won't be having your Superbowl party then?

Just kidding....not a huge Pats household here but we do get sucked up in the excitement....it's hard not to!

I enjoy football, too, but I like college over pro. We're big LSU fans. In fact, my class wrote letters to our principal at school persuading her to declare tomorrow PURPLE and GOLD DAY! She did, and I have my LSU gear all ready to go. Another National Title...here we come! GO TIGERS!

Okay, I have to admit I tire of the TV always being on football or ESPN to catch scores of the games he missed. He left for Iraq this week and I actually put it on a football game today just so it would seem like normal. My ten year old walked in the room and asked why football was on. I just kind of shrugged. I like the sounds in the house.
