I love Valentines Day too- I could care less that its a holiday designed to get people to spend spend spend- thats not what its about for DH and I.
We do take the time out for each other on a regular basis and dont just celebrate our love this one day as many VDay Sour grapes say- We love the nostalig feeling to cut out construction paper fancy Valentines with our kids and make themed dinners- I think its nice-

DH and I usually make sure to put the kids to bed early for a nice candlelit dinner at home- I really dont like to go out on that evening with the crowds and high prices-

I love the cheap red cellophane heart chocolate boxes!! They remind me of when I was little and my dad would get me one ( and yes, he still buys me one!)
I used to save the box to smell.

We did try the chocolate sauce paintbrish thing one year- I drew little heart tattoos on his arm with our initials

I missed posting to this the other day and wanted to say we decorate too....

We have an all white mini christmas tree that we put red and white lights on, then we also have a strand of red heart lights. we hang heart onaments on it and one year we did red heart shaped doilies with messages on them.
Our table has a pure red tablecloth and white table runner, red and white dishes with crystal hearts sprinkled all around. We have red dinner plate chargers, and white plates, the kids talked me into some of those plastic champagne flutes from the Dollar tree this year so we'll have a "hawaiian punch" toast of some sort at our special meal ! We hang hearts from the light fixture by red ribbon so it looks like a romantic chandelier.
At Christmas we have solid red chair bows, then for Valentine we change over to some red organza ones that have beading and gold at the bottom. When tied,we then hang a heart from each.
We have other cheezy valentine stuff from years gone by that were given by the kids... the lighted crystal rose from the dollar tree two years ago given by the kids, the first fake rose they ever gave me. you name it, if the kids can make it (love bugs etc) it gets set up as decor!

I always buy solid red stuff at the end of Christmas sales to use for Valentines day.
This year I bought wrapping paper from walmart that was solid red and had white writing on it that reads, "A little naughty"----- well that can be for wrapping DH's gifts and then I bought clear solid red C-9 size Christmas outdoor lights for 75% off and will go out and make a huge heart shape in the yard for when DH drives up. (he gets home after dark)


This year I'm giving DH a Candy Crane machine Amazon.com: The Sweet Machine: Kitchen & Dining
like this one only I didn't pay that price... Our linens and things had them at Christmas for $19.99and I used a 40% off coupon. I'm filling it with Valentine kisses, hugs, other assorted candies and then I grabbed some one inch vending machine capsules, took the toys out and filled them "adult" prizes like breakfast in bed, a back massage, dinner and a movie, a little kanoodling time! and various others that may not be deemed admissible on a family friendly site.
Anyway, for later in the evening, I found GLOW IN THE DARK bubble bath and body gel at our local Buck Shop... hummm... I think we'll be borrowing the kid's black light while they're over at grandma's!
For a dollar I couldn't pass it up! LOL!!

We always make it special for the day of love, not because we have to, but because we want to.
He's my best friend and we just really like telling each other how much we love each other.

i'd rather him not to anything but he buys some trinket I'd never get myself and it's nothing useable. i dont wear jewelry or drink. we dont go out. Probably just play games on the pc together like usual, unless my Wii comes in and I'd be playing it.
